coil on plug on 2002 nb

Having an issue with a occasional misfire.

Is it recommended to stay with original Mazda coil on plug or do i change to ???

NB8B CoP is usually reliable so most owners stick with it. Might be time for two new leads though.

You can change to Toyota coils but most of the ones that people here use on their MX5s are too fat to fit down the barrel of the NB8B head. There is one model of Toyota coil which does fit (from a V6 Lexus SUV) but you most likely have to buy them from Japan and do a fair bit of re-wiring to connect them up and make up a mounting plate to hold them down and worry about adjusting voltage or dwell time so that they don't blow up. :frown:

So basically check the 2 HT wires on the coils you've got and if you still need to replace coils then use the OEM Mazda ones.

Depends on when the misfire happens.
By all means change the CoP's if you believe them to be the problem.

I would try some of the known issues with the NB8B like the Cam Angle Sensor!
