Make sure you don't let it sit idle for ages or constant revs on the highway, I have been told this is the main culprit of glazing.

I've also been told excessively rich can cause glazing. Personally I'd try and get the ms setup on the daily first.

Yeah, it is. So I'm probably sorted. As long as I can start, idle and go for a drive I should be good. Sweet.

Soon as you start it, it's broken in.
Drop the clutch and get stuck in.
50ks on cheap oil
250ks on semi
Then full 5-40w.
Mines still running

When I got my NA refreshed a bit over a year ago, Automotive Plus told me OK to accelerate up but NO sudden lift offs, NO constant cruising up and down the highway, a mix of city/country and they did the first 150/200km before I picked it up given the nature of the engine and what was done during the refresh/rebuild

After the first 1,000km give it a bit more stick and don't be afraid to take it up to 6500-7000rpm! So that made for fast exits from the roadhouses back onto the highway!

I have now done 14,000km since the refresh and it runs fantastic, always starts, no smoke and no oil consumption - given it was an original Mazdaspeed built engine & car, and also given it was tracked in Japan before coming to Australia the car is fine with now 213,000km, not bad for almost 24 years!

Prior to my buying it I'm not sure if it had ever been touched, 'Aussie Stig' and 'Gussy' were both former owners.

I know some people stick the boot into their car from day ONE, and they say that's the best way, but after spending a considerable amount of money to have the job done and NOT being mechanically minded at all, I followed what the experts said

Side note: Nice to be having a coffee and have a lady walk up and say she HATES cars, BUT - THAT car is the prettiest I've ever seen!! Is it new?' I said 'Yes, it was in 1989!!' :D
