I was hoping to get my dad to the 1st track day of the year in the MX5, but he is in NZ that week. Where is the calendar of events?

Ok I gotta ask - what is a 'chook cooker'?

Yes...
Roger, it seems like you talk and chat with tbro a fair bit, but have you actually asked him what happened the last time he took Scooter out on a club track day?

Been a while,

So Bathurst this weekend and the usual suspects seem to be a bit thin on the ground. Last years 2f championship car is sitting in a garage
Where Qlders are usually the majority of Mxs in any Major event for Prodsports, at this event 10 MX5s are there but only 5 Qlders (Brendan racers at qld events)

The competion to the mxs are
Moslers,Viper, 997 cup cars, GT3 cup cars, Lambo, the usual Honda supercharged Exiges and rover Exiges, RX7s, GTR35s, Ginetta, Corvettes and a bloody Silva.

Mind you an 2B mx came 25th outa 48 so not to bad, but one got lapped twice

3 retirements out of 10 entered so the mxs aren't lasting or are they beening pushed too hard or are the stewart engines just better

Are all those cars in the same class? I mean wouldn't a NA engine under 1.6 class be fairly easy for a MX NA6 to be competitive? Or is they're no class and they all compete as if they are the same engines of equal capacity?
MX5 91 NA6 LE completely stock and loving it!
MX5 92 NA8/ITBs Silver "aka Track Beeotch"

I hope your talking about the MX5s all being in the same class?????????

A 1.6 would stand sfa chance at Bathurst, look at the cars you would being racing against, the QLD cars are the cream and by far the quicker and more reliable cars.

Scooter and Crewmans little silver car were lapping Lakeside in the 64 sec bracket during racing, real racing not track days.
Now I don't believe and I think Paul would agree whilst our cars were great race cars at QR and Lakeside
that they would survive being flogged to death trying to race at Bathurst, let alone qualify. Maybe with Ash Lowe,
who is a freak driver who can qualify anything might be able but certainly not me!!!

As for classes the MX5 are in basically 2 classes 2B and 2F, but in the prodsport racing can be in 2C and 2E.
These cars from Qld, ALL have Gary Stewart motors,(whom I sure everyone who races one will tell you he does the "best") so would all be making in the range from 220 rwhp down to "just" 180rwhp, so are bloody quick cars but are competing against the big boys now.

So is it worth trying to keep racing MX5s and hoping for results??

Yep, but only in 2F and only if they can stop farking around with the rules.
