Hi all. Anyone installed one of these on their 5 and if so how is the sound? My Loch Stewart muffler has a rattle and is in need of replacing. I'm considering whether to get another Loch or go a different route/sound. I don't want a drone like those stupid cannons.

Geoff, it may not mean much, but I have one on my GTi-R.

Actually bought it in hopes it reduces a lot of noise, or at the least give a low-bassy tone. The former not as much as I hoped but still good muffling, the latter big tick.
Again, it might be different in an NA, NA but it gives a noticeable off-beat/syncopated, boxer-like, grumble. I like it, don't know bout you.

There are a few types, central in & out, offset in/ central out, central in/ offset out, offset in & out, which one are you looking at?
I have the central in & out. I thought I bought the offset in & out as I think that design gives better resonance/sound reduction.

I've listened to one on a 4age (1600 toyota twincam) clubman at the Ringwood (Newcastle) hillclimbs, it was a double offset and had about 600mm after extractor collector,before muffler and another 600mm after,then a 45 degree exit(no cat).I was surprised how quiet it was even under full throttle.I have a 2.5" one and a 2.5" magnaflow cat on the shelf atm.
If I can get Nitrodann to fit these anytime soon(I know you'll read this dan,only if you're not too busy) maybe we can tell you,
You can see straight through them,but you can see by the cones inside how they work.Its a big heavy,sturdy muffler I'd be surprised if it wore out in a hurry,and if it droned in a road car I think it would only need a hotdog(or a turbo!) to make it superquiet

i have one on mine.

i have it centre exit with twin tips.

i just got an 18 x 4 inch magnaflow resonator muffler put between it and the cat and it sounds really nice.

i will post up a video for you tonight if i get time.

its pretty loud though.

might have to invest in one of these. my current muffler is a double offset max flow one. so simple slight S bend pipe with holes in it and no baffles. so almost a straight thru type. bloody loud. and getting louder the older i get. just need quieter these days. $105 for the 2.25 in/out double offset ones isn't a bad price.

I probaly should clarify a little.the one I heard at the hillclimbs surprised me because It was quiet for a straight through muffler,for a road car I think it would still need something else as well,ie cat and resonator.

Thanks all. Andy would prefer to hear from a 5 but will let you know if an audition is warranted. Noobee get yours fitted quick, i can put up with the rattle for a bit longer . Besides it goes away when i'm under power. 16bit do you think your SC would have increased or decreased the volume? Would love to hear it though. Project r is that the ebay price or did you find it elsewhere.

ebay price on special, normally $125.

i have a high flow cat and hotdog with my muffler, and it pulls 92dB at 6500rpm from a BP motor for interests sake.
