Re: Post your turbo / supercharged setup
Hi
I recently fitted a FFS supercharger
10psi and 170rwhp
adjustable coilover suspension
whiteline swaybar
Toyo R888 tyres
has taken 6 seconds off my usual track time, SO happy with the guys at FFS so helpfull and I only have to change the crank pulley to take it up to 16psi and 260rwhp ... But not going to do that as it is awesome as it is.

Awesome! I'll have to come say hi and a bit of a sticky beak at the next club event we're both at. I'd love to go for a bit of a drive (passenger or otherwise!) in a FFS car so I can assess whether it's for me.

Re: Post your turbo / supercharged setup
Hi all,
I just thought I might post my setup for any who may be interested. This is my former daily come track toy which I have owned for several years. Over the years I have tinkered somewhat and it slowly changed into what is it today. Here is an image of the engine bay, it is basically a 1.8 with rods and pistons, a little light cleaning up of the ports, stock exhaust cam, inlet has exintake mod, a garret GT2871R with tial 0.64 v band rear housing for response and tial MVR 44mm wastegate. The turbo is low mounted on a steampipe manifold made by myself with full 3" exhaust from turbo to tip. Just running on 98 pump fuel.
It was making about 170rwkw/230rwhp on 12psi already and I had it retuned last week so it is now putting out 235rwkw/315rwhp at 18psi and is a hell of a lot of fun to drive with massive torque and awesome instant response! I don't currently have any plans to up the power as it is already around the level where gearbox and diff are said to start being an issue however I do believe there is a fair bit more in the setup if desired as we still haven't played with cams or cam timing and it should take more boost fine too.
Dyno attached below, I think the few lower lines are just from earlier runs as the tune was playing around with boost control etc.
Cheers,
Tim

Probably too busy in the garage or race track to post here much or too busy at work trying to pay for race meetings and sticky tyres.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: Post your turbo / supercharged setup
I apologise for not being a forum whore... I have no problem divulging information about what I have done but I do not believe it is necessary nor do I have the time to pollute the internet with my every thought. You are pretty close to the mark Okibi, there have been many an hour spent on either the car itself or at that other place where the money comes from and very few to spare. As for the race track I have had it there a few times in recent memory, it is still in the relatively early stages of attempting to set it up nicely but I was quite pleased with going 59.3 at Lakeside just a couple of days ago.
Thanks for the compliments people. If I get a chance sometime I might put up a thread in garage if people are interested in other details of the car. In the meantime here is an image taken of the interior after I finished the cage.
Cheers,
Tim

Re: Post your turbo / supercharged setup
I was lucky enough to take it for a drive.
Goes like a rocket, no lag and just goes hard. The best bit IMO, is it was all hand built by the owner. Cage, turbo set up, lock stock the lot.
Gets my "Burt" Munro award.

I can think of a bunch of guys who've made similar or more power that are members here.
I know three of the owners of what have been or still are amongst the most powerful NA bodied, B-series engined MX5s in the country are still on here regularly, but choose not to post for whatever reasons.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.
