I yelled at her to get away and ran at her, others in the street heard me and soon 10-12 with shovels, brooms etc chasing it, found it finally in a hedge right next to my garage!! Now in several pieces in the bin! That's four now in the few days within a few houses and I've been here almost 6 years and never seen one!!
Jeez, Roger. Leave the things alone next time. They won't kill you and the vast majority of bites occur when people try to chase or kill them. It is also illegal to injure or kill any wildlife in Australia.

Thanks Brian, appreciated .. it was a snake to me and identified after 'the event'. I have read the link to 'WIRES' and will also inform my neighbours as such, I DO have cane toads and frogs in my gardens, both in substantial numbers at present
