2004 SE Central Locking Problem

Postby dave2221 » Sun Jan 20, 2013 9:46 am

Morning guys.....

I am having a problem with the standard central locking/alarm on my 2004 SE.

Here is the problem....

1st the battery went dead on the screamer/alarm unit (no big deal).... However the unit became loose when i tried to pull it apart, and the mounting bracket broke.... so i just removed it.

The central locking still works, just without the beeps when you lock the car (and obviously no alarm when its locked) so i didnt really bother me until i got around to fixing the braket....

THEN... one day i set the alarm off (unlocked the door, and opened the door too quickly as it sometimes tricks the system)

The alarm went off as per normal (hazards flash and immobilizer is activated).... just without the alarm siren.... so i locked the car, and unlocked again. thus returning the car to normal....

Here is my problem.... Now the key fob wont work.... i have to unlock the doors manually, and the boot popper wont work......

The hazards flash when i press the unlock button, but wont activate the central locking.....

I have checked the fuse in engine bay (its all good)
I have reattached the siren/screamer (with its flat battery though) and that didnt change anything.

So any idea why my central locking would be playing up?
Do i need to fix the siren/screamer to reset the system?

Help would be appreciated as its a massive pain in the ass!

Does the central locking work if you manually unlock the drivers side?

Ie if you unlock the drivers door, either with key or internal lock tab' does the passenger side unlock/lock in response.

This should tell you if the master lock servo is working.

Have you tried the 3 times on to off then door switch 3 times to put it into programming mode? Does it lock and unlock the doors?

No i havnt.

My feeling is that the central locking solenoid could be stuffed, but this doesnt explain why the boot wont pop.

Will have to replace battery in siren and put it back in to see if it resets the problem.

I removed all that stuff from mine ages ago, keyfob still works and pops the boot, I just programmed a spare remote last week and it worked fine also.

why not just take it to someone who know how it all works. If you are not full bottle on this you are stumbling around in the dark.
