Mild cams on standard ecu and exhaust NB8A
I'm looking at checking the valve clearances on my stock NB8A, and with the possibility of having to take the cams out to replace shims I'm thinking about slipping in a new set of cams while I'm there to give the motor a bit of a freshen-up. If its possible to get a bit of additional mid range shove without doing cam gears, ECU, exhaust etc....with some mild cams such as Tighe 708C's, or would any gains be too small to notice without doing all the extra mods? I have read that some have had good results with 805C's but they were in tandem with ECU etc....With the 708C's being less aggressive I'm wondering it it would be worth the expense. If anyone has done it I'd like to hear from you.

just about every camshaft maker for mx5s/miata will tell you that durations in the 250s, some low 260s dont require ecu changes. toda, maruha etc all have their specs and what is suitable and not suitable for a stock ecu. look at their websites.

I haven't used those cams in that engine but experience and looking at the specs says yeah go for it. I'd imagine it would be work 10 odd hp.
