Re: Blood Red Candy NA Respray
Many manufacturers make these style mirrors (ie. 949Racing, TCS etc but they usually have the longer arm). The ones in the photo I believe are Craft Square from Japan (they also make a long arm version). http://www.craftsquare.co.jp/tc_works_roadstar.html

more pics finally.
went for a run today. Got my first stone chip. If anyone needs me, I'll be crying myself to sleep for the next few weeks.

It's like my schoolboy fantasy colour rolled into one car.
Now I try to avoid attention so I would cringe driving it. Besides I never wash cars which makes such an extravagance a bit of a waste.

If this had nicer mirrors, gloss black lip and better wheels it would look amazing. Rad colour.

Re: Blood Red Candy NA Respray
I'm not one for trying to draw attention. I just wanted to build it up and have it the way I like it - I don't see MX5's being a car that anyone buys or builds for anyone elses approval. It's a car for the driver... Otherwise we wouldn't weather the storm of 'girls car'/'hairdressers car' comments.
It doesn't draw too much attention, and I don't think it's what tricked up civic owners would call a 'head turner'. The most I really get is old dudes in the parking lot at work asking me what it is (badges have been removed).
The biggest problem I have is that I'm now too afraid to park it anywhere. I work in prestige car sales, so it scares the sh*t out of me that people smash in to, scrape, key and all together disrespect $150,000+ cars without any worry.
I'm certainly not parking a bright red convertible in a place where dickheads can have their way with it because it set off their bird-like 'shiney object' detector.

Very nice color, really suits the NA!
Does the color have a small amount of gold fleck added? Almost appears to change to a bronze'y tone under different light (could just be the camera).
Great to see something different.

Re: Blood Red Candy NA Respray
It's probably just the camera. It's pretty hard to properly show the colour in photos. I should really get a video of it to show it properly.
The candy is actually 2 coats of silver, 5 coats of a red dye, 3 coats of clear. The way it works is when you're looking at it straight on, you're looking through less red, so the silver makes it look bright red. On an angle, you're looking through more red/in the dark, it's harder to see through the red layers - so it appears a really deep colour.
It's not like harlequin though - it doesn't change as you drive past... just gives it a really nice depth of colour.
I'll get some photos in shade/at night and maybe one day get a video.
