Haha, it was a great excuse to drive 1800 kms. It was actually 9hrs there and 9hrs back, but its 18 hrs all the same lol. The carbon fibre hardtop is currently being repaired; the side bracket was loose and the seals needed replacing. Will post a photo of the hardtop when its done.

Now that's dedication!

Oh..and hurry up and sell your Mariner Blue top, my wife is sick of me nagging for one :P

Haha, I will do anything for an mx5. I wasn't willing to interstate to go on a holiday anytime soon because of the cost, but I was willing to drive interstate to pick up a carbon fibre hardtop LOL.

Give the, its me or the hardtop speech lol

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Very nice SE, Dave. Still reckon the 17s are one the best looking wheels.

Got a wheel alignment. Believe it or not, the young bloke at my local Bridgestone actually knows his sh*t.

Drove to Bunnings yesterday and when I return after collecting a few items for the garden, the NB would not start. Thankfully someone with a portable engine jump starter restarted it. This has been happening regularly during the last few months of warmer days. Have arrange to drop the car off next week to the mechanic to diagnose the problem. Bloody frustrating.

If the jump pack worked then isn't it just a buggered battery (or the car's not charging the battery)?

Not the alternator either as it is charging normally.

Anyhow, took the NB for another drive today and to tempt faith by attempting to replicate the starting issue. Fortunately it was unsuccessful  or I would be stranded somewhere in the hills between Brisbane and Aratula. The drive is a recce run for the Feb 3 SEQ run and the steak is what I had for lunch at Roadvale Pub.

Removed my A-Pillar PLX DM-6 multi-gauge which was a LOT of work due to my anal work in wiring it up securely with lots of spiral wrap in the first place :(

Image

Yesterday afternoon I got pulled over for a breathalyzer test. "Mr. Plod" said "nice car" but that I must get rid of the A-Pillar gauge because it's a potential defect item.

I thought mine was mounted low enough since it does not block my road vision at all but the fact that he mentioned it made me not want to tempt fate any further.

I can still see the information on my PLX DM-100 gauge, just not as easily, so it's not a tragedy.

This goes to prove that not all cops are bad - if he wanted to, I could have had a lot more to worry about.

Also re-checked the 949 SuperMiata endlinks I installed last weekend - thank god for Gatorade in this heat/humidity.

Lokiel, I'm at lost to understand how the gauge on the A pillar could be a defect item? Have you clear it with RTA? Block vision could not possibly be the reason as most have their much larger GPS unit mounted in the same location.

I was thinking same thing. A huge number of cars these days have a mobile phone or gps cradle mounted on their windscreen! Does this mean these are all a defect?

That guage looked well positioned from the photos, may be different from driver's seat.

What about all the taxis with the device on top of the instrument panel directly blocking driver's vision???!
