my nc track car build

Postby ansellpa » Mon Jan 14, 2013 11:41 pm

Well, thanks for all of the help forum members, and sorry for being an annoying mx5 newbie and asking lots of questions.

Got the car back following the cage install and thought I would share some pics/info

Specs are 2009 nc ( flood worite off, only 4000km! and no sign of any stray carp or yellowbelly in the boot)

sourced from mx5 plus

( with 2006 front bar and rear tail lights)
engine stock internal
goodwin headers and rear muffler
aem intake
flash tune by mx5 racing
goodwin engine brace
porterfield pads front and rear on stock rotors
racing beat front and rear swaybars
auto exe height and dampner adjustable coilovers
weds forged tc005 17x8 with hankook z221 215/45/17 M compound

Still a few things to do and getting very keen to get this on the track, hopefully ready by pscraq round 1 in March, but wont hold my breath.

Still have to figure out how to assemble the roof after pulling all of the brackets and motors and hinges out. That stuff weighs a ton!

Yes, would love to, but serious $!
Also the rear guards are different on folding hard top vs fixed one, so would it fit?

I will figure out a way. Want to join all of the bits together into 1 piece so I can take it on and off

Looking good. You have had it on track or not?

Congratulations and well done getting this far.

Forget the removable hard top, I'm pretty sure it won't fit as the shape of the rear panels in the folding hard top are different from the soft top.

One query. why go 17" rims and not 16's? The cost for tyres is about $100 a corner cheaper in the 16's plus you have the added advantage of a lower rolling diameter.

I have never dríven the car, just bought it as a project and got straight into the build.
No idea how it even goes yet.

You are right about the wheels,
But these came up for sale near me, and I had a friend who had the semis and had only bedded them in before he blew his engine, so some very cheap wheels and tyres to get me started.

Forgot to mention it has the Jdm 4.1 LSD also

Wow some will power :D You must be busting to get it out on track.

I will tell you the nc's are allegedly a bit barge like.....

Haha, bought the car as unregisterable write off, so could not drive it on the road, so why muck around,
Had sold my previous track car, so had the funds to get started.

Had been 7 months since I have hit the track, so not sure what the automotive equivalent of blue balls is, but I have it.

Thanks Bruce,
I want to be able to edit my own posts!

Does anyone have a copy of the AASA rules and regs for cars and classes?
Their website is down and the lady on the phone was unable to help me. says it will be 1-2 weeksbeofre it is up and running
I was hoping someone out there had a PDF so I can check things.

Attached. Pretty vague in some areas.

If you go to the Wakefield site they have the regs for Round 1 which covers some of the safety requirements too.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

thanks mate!
yep, it is vague, and I guess I am looking for the rule book with info of what car goes in what class, and what are the specs the car has to comply with.
WP page not much use either.
I will just have to wait and see what AASA say.

Anything to help those balls change colour ...

Reading between the lines AASA are after Cams classes, I just went with that. Don't know what the other boys and girls have been running with.

If you are running in Prod Sports then the car must comply with either CAMS Group 2B Marque Sports Cars or CAMS Group 2F Production Sports Cars. Both sets of regs are available for download off the CAMS website in the manual of motorsport. Link is here....http://www.camsmanual.com.au/02_race.asp#2nd

Probably a stupid question, but have you joined the Prod Sports Association of Qld yet? If not here is the link to get the all the info. Basically $50 a year to join and $100 to register for the series, where if you run in all rounds you will get a $100 discount off the last round. http://www.pscraq.com.au/index.php

Thanks mate, yep, I have joined pscraq and just set a few emails off trying to get some info.
I have got all the cams stuff, so building the car to 2 f spec initially.
Just the aasa info I am chasing. The Info does not seem to be easily available.

If I build to 2f cams spec I presume I will be ok for aasa?

What is the equivalent class to 2f in aasa?
