Hey all,
Have recently purchased a 2nd hand NB soft top and frame. After getting it home I noticed that the tension cable on the drivers side had rusted through and snapped. The passenger side was also rusted and was only held together by a couple of strands.
I ended up buying a replacement set of cables from MX5PARTS.CO.UK they are stainless steel, made by IL Motorsports in Germany and best of all cost 50% of the original Mazda ones. Cost me just under AUD$30 landed in Aust.

Re: Check you soft top tension cables
While you are at it check out the drain hole on either side of the car underneath the soft top mounting.
Warning - you will be grossed out by how much gunk is in there. BUT it is a potential rust spot go straighten a wire coat hanger and clear it out.
