So you got another run after all! Don;t leave ya air con on next time! :P
Quite impressive though straight out of the box. Gotta love that little blip at the end that bumped you up over the 90 mark. :)

Yep air was ON for this run. The blip at the end was when the ECU turned the air off and gave it that extra spurt.

We did six passes in that last test. The first three were with the air off it cracked the 90 KW barrier once but the jaw dropper was with the air on in the last three where two of the three registered over 91kW.

And yes the engine is standard.

A little late with this but which is the correct Dyno Dynamics setting for a 4 cylinder non-turbo?

I thought that the non-turbo was 4 & turbo is 4F; did I get it the wrong way around?

Club Dyno Day 29 August 2009

Engine internals: Stock, full synthetic oil.
Engine external: Goodwin header, Cobalt CAI.
Drive train: Stock, full synthetic oil.
Tyres: 215x45x17

105rwkW, 286Nm :D

There's more in there yet. I think the stock muffler is strangling the motor at the moment.

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted here.
Not a lot has happened besides fitting the AEM CAI in place of the Cobalt, so I guess that’s the reason but here’s the progression.

In May 2012 the car was retuned with the Dynotronics update by Daniel at Deckspeed. I immediately felt it had more power and the revised rev limit of 7,500 was good at the track resulting in a PB at Wakefield of 1:10.33 but it took a couple of months (September) for me to get it onto a dyno to check it out.

Realising that the previous dyno is known to be a little optimistic (look at the torque figures!!!) it didn’t really surprise me that the car only pulled 105.3rwkW. Still a good effort considering the stock car was 91.6rwkW and all that’s been done is the Goodwin Header, AEM CAI and the Dynotronics tune. What really worried me was the high AFR around 3,500 – 4,000 and spiking over 6,500rpm, plus some hunting on neutral throttle.

The printout below is two pulls, the lower pull shows a miss just after 4,600 where the dreaded broken wire to #4 COP shows up.

Image

Then in November, Daniel installed a hub dyno and acquired a EcuTek licence that allowed instant tuning adjustments without the need to send files back to the US for adjustment.

So I went out to Daniel’s with my small track muffler fitted, the car was hooked up to the hub dyno and a base run done with the Dynotronics tune. The result was 108.5 rwkW.
The stock muffler used on the previous dyno run obviously pulls quite bit of power as I found at Eastern Creek when a second a lap was gained by swapping from the stock muffler to my little straight through one.

Daniel loaded in a tune that he’d been working on overnight and the result was an increase of around 3kW. Some more tuning of the AFR was done and another run resulted in 112.2rwkW, as shown in the print out below.

Image

I had Daniel back off the rev limier to just over 7,100 as a safety measure, being that my model NC doesn’t have the forged crank. So now I have confidence that the AFR is correct at WOT and I won't be burning valves.

Next on my engine mod list is oil pressure light to warn of low pressure during high G’s in left hand corners at the track. I’ve seen the results of this and I don’t want to go there.

I'm putting in an oil accumulator into my build to protect against that very issue.
