Maybe leave it for a few weeks, you might get used to the noise.

Re: Will this make it quieter?
Thanks for all the feedback and tips everyone.
Due to the rarity and condition of the system, i am in no way going to modify it, i had enough trouble trying to find one this good. I'm not planning on reselling it but i like to keep things like that somewhat original.
I am going to start by reinstalling the old cat (which is still quite new) and see how it goes. I am not bothered by the minor (if any) decrease in performance.
Peter also makes a good point about the Metal Cat vs Ceramic Cat. I'm aware that it may not crack and pop as much with a more restrictive cat, but it is a daily driver and id rather it be a bit more tame for inner city driving.
Plus, i can always reinstall the Metal Cat it the difference is only minor

I disagree with your noise = performance logic Dann.
If I put a 3" straight through on my car it would be a lot louder than the current 2.25" and I doubt it would perform better.

Not always, look at the intake side of things. Know it's not the same but the resonators on most cars intake systems are there to generate noise but don't make a cracker of a performance difference

With two laps to go then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is.

Re: Will this make it quieter?
Alrighty,
I took the car in to get the cat swapped yesterday. I was skeptical about the difference it was going to make, but for $50, who would complain. I can also swap the cats over when ever i want which is a nice bonus.
When i started the car for the first time, it was noticeably quieter on idle. It still burbles, which is nice.
After a day of driving it around, this is the list of differences i can notice:
-Far less drone at 60km, 80km & 100km.
-Far less boom between 2750rpm & 4000rpm
-I can feel a very slight restriction from changing from 100 cell metal to 300 cell ceramic, but nothing that i will lose sleep over.
-It still growls and crackles!
Mission accomplished i say!
Thanks for the advice everyone!

Haha, my own little analogy i guess...
It's that loud resonance that you get between those revs... Sounds like someone is shouting through a megaphone.

I understand what you're saying! And I quite like the distinctive sound it makes! Not too loud, but you can hear the shifts nice and crisp.
