Not sure if it's 'road going' at present but the MX5 Club has a track day at Lakeside on Monday 26 November next - all details are on the topic/thread/whatever!

lol @ Dann ;)

The SR20 dríven mx5 at the last track day was a nice surprise. He had the adapted kit from WA and around 300rwhp.

Car looks nice, lots for you to read and analyse before coming to a conclusion. All the best

Peter Manton's mini so I heard all the non important bolts i.e. the ones that hold the seat the boot lid etc were drilled out so they were hollow. Do you want to go that far?

Obviously you haven't dríven a lite car with big power. I'm getting the chassis and brakes sorted first before I even begin to research power options.

Have you done the math on mx5 power to weight?

If so how much power have you decided you need?

My track Evo was 240kwATW and 1200kg so I'm thinking 180-200kw should be perfect. A rebuilt NA motor with a quick spooling turbo should do the trick.
For now I'm fixing bugs and getting the brakes and suspension sorted.

200rwkw would be a great ideal figure. I would be happy around 180!

Do not use Castrol SRF in an NA or NB. Silicone ester is not compatible with our cars. Search miata.net for detailed info - one link is provided below:

http://forum.miata.net/vb/archive/index ... 30817.html

You're better off going with Motul RBF 600 or 660 or similar from PBR, Lucas TRW, etc.

TIP: Red stuff brake pads are nowhere near good enough for your intended use.
EBC even says they are not suitable for track use in their product description. I and a lot of others on this Forum can testify that is the case. With the power you intend to run they'll fry on the first track day.

Thanks but at the moment the motor is stock. When I upgrade to a turbo I will run DS3000s like I ran on my time attack Evo. For the moment it's going to be a track ready road car. My first event will be in feb but I'm hoping to to a shakedown before then.
