Update

So yesterday was another track day. Got up early and left around 5.15am and drove an hour to the Queensland Raceway. Decided to stop for breaky at maccas 5 minutes down the road. Ate my food and went to the toilet, when i came out i saw two cops at the counted both death staring me :p. So i walked out side and pretended to be on the phone hoping they would leave.. they did not. So i decided to just walk out to my car and whatever happens happens..

As soon as i unlocked it they walked over stating how low the car is and that it shouldnt be on the road etc. Fortunately they were really cool cops. Both in to cars and both use to race rally cars. Just my luck hey :p. After a few compliments about how clean the car was he issued me with a $110 fine for the car being under 100mm.

Fortunate because they told me everything they could get me for but decided not to ruin my day and told me to enjoy the trackday and to get a car trailer :p. So off i went. Got to the track and setup before driver briefing. 1st session like always was slippery but the car felt good. Was running perfectly. 2nd session out on Clubman saw a new pb with a 101.7. Had a moment coming out of the fast left hander going onto the back straight when i went off and the car started to slip out.. So much arse clenching :p

Heres an incar vid.

As the day got hotter a switch up to the Sprint track was done. After two sessions i was running consistant 58.7 matching my pb's but still wasnt faster. Final session was 3 hot laps and finally got a 58.5. Not much of a pb but its enough for me :p. After that was passenger laps which was good fun. still running 59.00 with the extra weight :p

Tires were shagged by the end of the day with struggling for grip exiting turn 6 and the first dipper. Im confident with a new set of either RS-3s or stepping up to NT01's will see me in the low 57's - high 56's with more practice.

All in all was an awesome day. In 32*c weather the car ran flawless and water and oil temps never got over 100*c.

Heres a couple of pics :)

With regard to the cops, I suspect that they were sympathetic and let you off lightly because they knew you going to the track. If it was a Friday night and you were in a hotted up Subaru or Nissan they would have thrown the book at you since they're sick and tired of hoon-behaviour from young driversr.

Most cops aren't arseholes unless you give them a reason, being a prick just escalates any problems.

Looking forward to the Fast Fours article - please get them to quote some of your lap times vs typical Porsche/WRX/EVO times, that'll change the opinion of many about MX5s and what they're capable of with modz and in the hands of a good driver.

Remember to ask if you can say that the car is for sale at the end of the Fast Fours article. Maybe pick up a spare prepaid number to receive enquiries/or give them an email address (I'd be reluctant to hand out your regular number).

You probably haven't read too many Fast Four magazines - about 40% of the featured cars have closing comments indicating that the car is up for sale. It seems that once a car has been "finished", the owners want to move onto their next project (it's the nature of "The Modder").

Great idea though, "mere mortals" can't afford to buy that sort of advertising.

I hope I never "finish" my car!

Its funny you say that.. i had a green porsche gt3 in my group that would follow me out every time. He came up to me after each session saying theres no way he could keep up with me. Its a pretty good feeling when someone in a car built to do this sort of stuff cant keep up with u around corners and straights :P

Heres a wicked pic of me getting loose out of the dipper.
