WTF!!
Ever since the day i picked this car up the Light pop upper/downer and the Hazard light button between the centre air vents have not worked.
I always assumed that the wiring might be a bit dodgy there or something.
Well when i pulled the stereo out as it stopped working i realised just how dodgy the wiring is.
There is actually no wiring or connector behind the buttons.
Under the steering wheel is pretty bad too.
My plan is to pull the dash and fix it all up.
Remove an old alarm system etc.
My issue is, REGO is due in a few weeks and i just want to get it through and am worried i will have a hard time getting a pink slip without the Hazard lights working.
Does anyone know of an easy way to just bypass the loom and wire the switches to the correct spots on the car to make it work for REGO?
So i do not have to pull the dash yet.
I have found this wiring diagram and am trying to make sense of it.
Any help much appreciated!!!

May be the electrical connecting block to the hazzard/ pop-up switch is now amongst the all the wiring below it, as it looks like there might be some unused ones there. Pics on pages 14, 17 & 20 of following show the hazzard/ pop-up switch connector block:

Assuming your lights still pop up when you turn them on? If so, there must be a blocking switch somewhere as the swtich itself forms part of the circuit; as in they can't pop up if the switch isn't connected.

Re: Hazard Light & Retractor wiring NA
Thanks guys.
Yeah Joe, they pop up when using the stalk.
That worries me also.
Why would anyone hack up a loom this bad.
Hoping i can figure out a way to wire from the hazard button to the flasher so that the hazard lights work.
Then after passing rego i can repair or replace the loom.

Re: Hazard Light & Retractor wiring NA
Sorry to keep bothering everyone.
Just about to give this a go this afternoon.
Would anyone suggest the following is is a good/bad idea?
I am going to run a new(temp) wire from the hazard light button on the tombstone to the orange cable on the Flasher Unit.
Hopefully there will still be a sign of where the orange wire was if it is not now.
I will then ground the Black wire from the button to a ground cable elsewhere.
This seem workable??
Or am i stupidly missing something here?

Re: Hazard Light & Retractor wiring NA
According to the schematic, the switch joins to earth, so no harm in doing that to see how it goes.
Before going all out on properly joining to the hazard switch just yet, join a wire to, then short the orange wire from the flasher box to earth to see if the hazards flash or not.
If its good, then finish it off neatly, if it's not, then you haven't wasted that much time.
