SAME! I feel my Clubman will be inspired by the style of this car too. There are some very tasteful mods done here.

Speaking of which, where did you get your stub antenna and base from? Is it an aftermarket creation, or a complete unit from another car (S2000)? I'm desperate to get rid of the dodgem car look!

Thanks Mr Pham, that's a nice compliment coming from you! your wiring work is top notch!

I would have liked to have done a full wire tuck on mine, but just couldn't justify the time it would have taken.

yeah a couple of people asked me about that. i forgot to mention it in the mod list.

I bought it from www.LoCustom.com. It is the Mini Shark model. I think it was about $50 delivered. Definitely worth it! I can't believe Mazda sold the car with that stupid fixed antenna. Makes it look like an R/C car!

Thanks. I'll be getting myself one.

I like the R33 vents. A different look, but they give the front end some aggression. Did you decide on them for style, cooling, air intake or all of the above?

Previous owner fitted them, I guess for the reasons you mentioned above. I just had them colour coded, as they stood out a bit too much unpainted (they are carbon fibre).

Update!

$1200 later, now fully engineered for NSW!!

In other news, the car had a photoshoot a couple weeks ago for Zoom Magazine. That makes two feature cars in a row for me.

Should be getting a low profile rectangle headlight kit next month. Was hoping to have it fitted before the photoshoot but manufacturing delays meant this didn't happen.

At the moment I am rewiring the thermo fans and A/C compressor to run separately from the ecu. And also fabricating a custom bash plate/engine undertray.

Does Zoom magazine still exist? I haven't seen it on the newstands for years.

If you don't mind sharing, what were the main obstacles/requirements in order for it to meet engineering standards?

Basically the car passed engineering as is, but had to make a few changes:

Fully enclose air filter
Recirculate cam cover breather back into intake
Slightly increase ride height to meet 100mm minimum

My brand new exhaust system with cat converter, centre and rear mufflers meant I had no problems meeting requirements for noise and emissions.

For emissions, were you running PULP or E85?

couple of pics from Australia Day Show n Shine at Eastern Creek

I was trying out some new shoes for the day: Grizzly Imports steelies, 15x8 +20 all round. Really just bought them so I could have a cheaper alternative than the SSRs to sell the car with.

Also took my bash plate off to paint it, thought i'd take a few snaps off the drive train from underneath.

note the oil temp sensor in the sump plug adaptor.

and here's the bash plate re-installed after a coat of black engine enamel:

oh, and I had the back wheel off, so thought i'd snap a pic of the upper adjustable camber control arms. you can also see the BC coilover and Goodridge braided brake line:

cheers
