hi all
well i finally got the other ihi turbo fitted to the car. prior to fitting i had precision turbo's in sydney fit a 15t mitsubishi wheel - ported and a larger flapper. he said i could pick up an additional 30 bhp with my mods.
so today i took it for a run and it appear that i don't have as much power prior to the removal.
car runs and idles well but doesn't fire up like before.
maybe the tune from the other turbo is to blame.
i've booked it for friday for a dyno run and after that sending the ecu back to chiptorque for a re map.
thoughts on the above please
regards

You will probably find it more efficient to take your car to Chiptorque so that they can tune it explicitly for your turbo since it's unique - otherwise you may be sending it back and forth a few times before you're happy with it.
I'm sure you can find something to do in SE QLD while you're waiting.

It's called turbo lag. Welcome to the world of larger turbo's. You'll possibly notice a difference above 5000rpm with your foot flat to floor... "Tuning" won't do much to overcome the physics of a larger turbo that isn't well sized for the application. If you have an electronic boost controller, setup for your previous turbo, playing with the wastegate delay settings on that could possibly improve things to some extent.
Don't know what dump pipe and exhaust you have fitted, but if still the standard SE one, this will only serve to restrict the larger turbo...

I come tell disagree with the first paragraph of the above post. The car may not come onto boost until a few hundred rpm later but when it does it will be significantly faster assuming it's tuned for it. You cannot however change the turbo and not the tune.

Re: TURBO PROBLEM HERE ???? OR A TUNE
This sounds odd to me.
While the tune wont be optimal for the upgraded turbo, chances are as a factory tune it would be very safe to start with, and should run reasonably well as is.
Who fitted the new turbo? Is there a chance you have a leak somewhere in the system?
I'd wait until after you get the tune to worry too much though - if there is an issue you'd expect they'll find it at that stage.

When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.
