If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Roof up while driving, down to see what I might run into in our cramped garage :p

Fitted my Whiteline Sway Bars and test drove it.
Nowhere near as much body roll as before and you can carry more speed through the corners.
The car feels excellent.
Great bang for buck mod.

Fitted the AEM intake to the car. Most challenging job I've done on any car. I just couldn't get the bloody turbo inlet off! I also hate springs clamps with a passion now
Induction noise is loud - wife originally didn't approve
After getting her to hear it outside the car she said it was better...
I think boost comes on a little earlier now but I haven't tried driving at WOT yet.
I think I'll need to get a plastic box to cover the relocated relays. I was thinking acrylic but it might just be easier to invest in some Ferrero Rochers
I've also learnt I am leaking aircon refrigerant from my low pressure valve. I'll have to google how to replace one of those and go for a re-gas again!

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
Well, today I finally fitted a CAI & polished my strut brace. It was a bit of stuffing around to make the brackets to hold it all rigid, & relocate the windscreen washer bottle, but nothing too difficult. Scored a nice bit of 3" stainless pipe flared at one end, from work. (It looks so much better if its free!!!). Love the new induction note too. Cutting the hole was a bit scary though.
Anyway here's a pic.

Latest mod (a few weeks ago)..
Garage Vary style lip
Scraped it off on our sh*t driveway roughly a week after putting it on..
Day off work tomorrow so it's going back on.
Form is within the function.

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
Fitted new weather strips to both doors to replace my faded and worn ones.
Tightened the driver's door clasp thingy's so that the door doesn't rattle over bumps and also closed up the window guide slightly to stop the window rattling ... Virtually no rattles in the car now (with the roof down, music up and wind blowin' past the ears lol)
Googled how to change the timing, purchased a timing light on ebay & advanced the timing a few degrees ... heaps better!!! Not sure if just my imagination, but the exhaust note sounded nicer ... is that even possible just by advancing the timing???!!

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
Tried to install my new headunit. Old one was pioneer, so bought another pioneer so it would have the same harness. Nope. They changed it, seemingly without reason. Also, the new headunit didn't have a harness in the box. So I have to return the new one, and see if I can find a headunit that's slightly older than the one I bought, so it will have the right harness. Don't want to modify the original loom, and there are no adapter for this harness yet. Must be too new.
GG Pioneer. Just what I wanted, a headunit with no possible way to install it, previous harness or otherwise.

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
Tried to get registration transferred into my name. Turns out the RWC is invalid because the mechanic wrote the odo number wrong, and just wrote over it. Not acceptable.
So I went to the mechanic who did the RWC. Showed them, asked if they can re-write that cert. Answer was no, because signing a new paper with that date would be back-dating, and not allowed. Fair enough, I suppose... Despite it just being a re-write of the same inspection results claimed as being done on the same day. So now I have to take it in to get another RWC test done on Monday morning. I pointed out that I will not be paying for this test, since their screwup invalidated the previous one that had already been paid for. Effectively, they took the seller's money and gave him nothing for it. They didn't comment.
Will be arriving with my spare key and the local police phone number to pick it up on Monday. I expect they will either A) refuse to hand the keys over until I pay for the second inspection, and/or B) make up something to make it fail. If so, I will be taking it and getting it dealt with elsewhere before returning it for them to finish the cert. Hoping they will just do the test, pass it as it should, and give me the keys so I go away.
