Sure is.
For now anyway.

I have had Adam design the cage so it can be removed in under 20mins so if i decide to go for a weekend away or something with it i can just remove tall cage and throw a hardtop on.

Sounds like a plan HJT!

Adam has told me he just needs it for today to jig the cage so he always make another if someone else ever wants one then i can come get it tonight.

Cheers Hayden!!
It has been a lot of fun so far.

While waiting to get my car back, i have received a few other bits and pieces.

I have Glsender building me a DIYPNP MS2 at the moment.
Can not wait to start playing with that.
Thanks G!!

I now have a NA8 Throttle Body with a variable Tps to replace the NA6 TB and Flyin Miata spacer i currently have on the car.

Image

Image

This will give me back some much wanted space between the front of the engine and the radiator.
Plus the Vtps will make the MS2 behave more appropriately.
I am not 100% sure on if i the car having a 1.6 harness will be a bad thing trying to hook up the 1.8 ICV and coolant lines.
Guess i will just give it a try.

I also got hold of some side mirrors as my OEM ones are cracked and frozen and about to fall apart.
These where a good price and i think will look decent once black and on the car.

Image

Could always keep them yellow and pretend MACCA's sponsors me

I decided to give Vinyl Wrapping a go on these mirrors.
Thought it might save painting and ruining the Malibu Yellow.
Bought some cheap Vinyl from Ebay and stole the Girlfriends hair dryer and got to work.
After much stretching and heating the back came out really really nice.

Image

Only issue was i could not for the life of me figure out how to correctly do around the glass.

Image

I then tried again, this time doing around the glass first and then covering the rest.

Image

It worked better but still not great.

Image

Image

I think the mirrors are quite a difficult piece to wrap, especially when i have no clue what i am doing.
Very fun stuff the vinyl though.
I will have to give a larger, flatter panel a go another day.
Most side mirrors seem to have a trim piece around the glass that is black and you just cut along the trim line.
These do not!!

So i will just rub them back, prime and paint Satin Black.

Oh, and i just got confirmation that AGI have installed my harness which is a 6 point.

GOT MY CAR BACK!!!! :D

Image

Was great until this morning when i drove the car out of the garage and had a F&*KIN TAXI REVERSE STRAIGHT INTO ME!!!

Image

Like really?? Did that clown just do that?

Anyways, The Bar seems to be great.
I had a old badly repaired soft top in the garage that i got for free.
I decided i will try to make up a really cheap BIKINI TOP style roof.
Just to keep the sun off for now more than anything.

Image

Stole some latches from old CONEHEAD hardtop.

Image

Cut the BOW section free with a hacksaw.
When this does not work for me   i will most likely order a premade material BIKINI from PROJECT G.
I will need this bow section.

Image

I then removed the frame from the soft top and decided to just try that as it is.

Image

Image

Image

It surprisingly almost works.
HAHA i even drove around with a few nuts holding the the rain rail section down.
Looks a little odd but i really think if you really wanted a soft top you could make it work with a little extra work and planning.

Haha except the hardtops point was in the middle of the car.
I wish it was how that soft top looked.
That is the pretence it was sold to me under.
Would have been alot easier and not such a waste of money.

My car is finally back!!!

Image

After what felt like a never ending battle with the TAXI company i have the repaired car back.

The repair shop did a SH*T HOUSE JOB. (is anyone else sick of businesses as a whole? they are all useless. You pay your money and then it becomes your responsibility to chase up what they screw up and then all you get at best is what you paid for in the beginning!!!! END RANT)

Bonnet is not on straight so gaps are all messed up and there are major runs in the paint!!

Image

I may take it up with them but at this point i just wanted the car back in the garage to prepare it for a few track days.

In other news my Bluetooth Dongle from EFI Analytics all preconfigured for MS2 arrived from the USA today.

Image

Image

All set now for when my Megasquirt is finished. i will have Gauges and logging on my Android devices. :D :D

Tell me about it.
This is no small time shop either. This is a major player on the Northside.

I just do not want to lose my car for another few weeks.

I might just suck it up as the car is in no way a show car but it very much annoys me.
I will send them an email with pics and see what they say.

If you don't hold them to account they will continue to do it. You might not care this time but the next person might.

Same as the performance shop the last customers went back and complained might control the work on your car better (example only) think of it as a civic duty / paying it forward.

Maybe say to them, look I don't REALLY care , but I'm more then willing to publicly name and shame to stop it happening to someone else.

I can't believe a paint shop would allow a car to leave with that!

I would blow up deluxe.
