I'm about to swap my springs for Eibachs and I need to borrow a set of spring compressors from a kind Perth member
Anyone has a set I can use please? You are most welcomed to help out too!! I'm pushing it a bit there....
Oh, would I need a torque wrench?
Thanks!

I have some cheapo spring compressors somewhere in the garage, let me get back to you.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Thanks Okibi,
In the meantime may I share the following with you all which i found in the Pulsar forum as I was doing a search re spring compressor........
"just do what i did. go to bunnings get you'r self a nice big F clamp ($30)(I'm talking like 32") and a rubber door stop ($2) a small piece of scrap steel about 1" wide and 4" long(any good backyarder should all ready have this ) and some super glue (again, any good backyarder should all ready have this ) cut a bit off the door stop about the depth of the combustion chamber or a little thicker, glue it to the F clamp. then bend the piece of metal into a U shape so the two end bits are level and spred enough that they sit on the retainer.
just make sure you get a mate to help u because you will need to hang onto the bit of metal as you wind it down other wise it can slip. and belive me there is a lot of potential energy in a 3/4 compressed valve spring"
how dodgy is that??? LOL!!!

Frank,
I'm all for saving money if you can but if are planning to fit Eibach springs that lower the car, shouldn't you be getting a wheel alignment done?
If so then, why not get John or Bob at Wheelsworld or Kerry at Bridgestone Tyre Centre (Bentley) to fit and sort everything out for you?
Just a suggestion so feel free to ignore me but just thought I'd point it out mate

Absolutely......I have already contacted John about the wheel alignment. I do have the "how to" sheet from Mazdaspeed and it looks pretty straight forward. An opportunity to get to know ones' car and have something to do..... Now didn't know about Kerry at Bridgestone. Is he just as good? I have the wife's car that needs attending to as well.

Frank,
Kerry and his Dad, Graeme, are old school type people so no super high tech electronic alignment machines there. What you get is the old string, real Aussie father and son family feel and decades of knowledge in how to set up cars for whatever you tell him it is for
Plus Kerry got very familiar with setting up suspension for MX5 during the days when I had my workshop as ALL MX5s were sent to him.
From the LF Performance website (Kim Ledger's Company):
Kerry Wade.
We are very proud of our ongoing association with Kerry Wade who has taken out the Street Car Championship for seasons 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 driving our 1996 Mazda RX7 Series 6 Turbo. Kerry is currently the lap record holder at Barbagallo Raceway with a time of 60.03 seconds. To add to his remarkable achievements Kerry is also the first driver to achieve this amazing feat in the clubs 32 year history.
Kerry Wade and the LF Performance FD
During the 2006 season Kerry also had an impressive finish in the Saloon Car Class at Barbagallo finishing second in the Championship.
Bridgestone Bentley (Tel: 9458 4586) is also the ONLY appointed Bridgestone Motor Sport dealer in WA so you HAVE to go to Kerry for your RE55 or RE-01R tyres.
So don't be thinking that Kerry is just your average tyre guy
Best to mention my name and I'm sure he will look after you
Just to re-iterate - Bob and John at Wheelsworld also do a great job but if you are south of the river then maybe you could give Kerry a go

They're not there anymore?? or did they change names?
Go see Unky John at Wheels world in Ossie Park, they're fantastic and sponsor the club's motorsport series.

Of course they are still there. I have been going there for years, even before I got my 5 and their no nonsense prices and service are excellent. When I need an alignment or tyres that's where I am going, they have a new machine.
They do lots of 5s and the person to speak MX-5 to is Shane. You might see his NA race car there if you are lucky. It is probably the only rotary turbo legally engineered in Perth. A really nice guy.
Bootz and Boof - On the road to somewhere.

Re: Perth members........
Are the spring compressors needed for your nc??
If so you don't really need them. If you have a friend handy just get them to push down on the top hat while you undo the bolt.
I did this on my uncles nc, the springs are soft enough not to use a compressor

Hmm they didn't come up on the Bridgestone website. Have they changed name to Tyreways bootz?
Anyway, thanks Okibi. Booked with Wheels World to get it fitted this morning before I saw bootz's post.
Thanks for the tip Regie. I don't want to mess about with spring compressors :S

Re: Perth members........
Bridgestone Bentley is now a Kumho shop but Kerry still owns it as far as I know and the same people still work there. I use them for my tyre fitting and alignment needs, Shane has an awesome alignment spec stored in his head.
They still import all sorts of motorsport tyres, not just Kumho.
