Re: 4 - 2.5 inch reducer.

So I managed to throw something together today.

Glued the filter to my ol' PVC reducer (thanks hks_kansei) and lengthened the hose between the AFM and filter with a 3 inch silicone straight pipe I had laying about. It all looked pretty tacky, so I threw some spare thermo-wrap around the non-silvery bits to make it look a bit better for a photo...but I think I'll leave it like that for a while.

Been driving her about all day to try and find a flaw, but none found so far. Has plenty of space between the strut brace now and I can't feel any reduction in performance for having the filter so far from the AFM. (I have a reliable source to thank for that!)

Piccy!

(Please ignore the filthy engine bay and the dirty old extractors..they'll be the first to go once I've done my suspension, brakes and wheels.)

Thanks all for your help!

Good stuff - you might find you can rotate the tower brace 180 degrees depending on how busy it is on the dside tower.

I can rotate it with a bit of moving things aside :P It's just easier to get on and off in this position.

I take it (even though super minimal) it does its job better the other way around?

Doubt it, but it might allow you to attach the air cleaner pod via the short adaptor to the MAF, not that I think there's a problem with the extra distance - perhaps it's just a slightly neater solution.

Actually I just remembered It does fit around the other way, however it rubs against the air flow meter, theres a scratch on my bar from where I tried that a while back :P And the bar also rubs on the bonnet. :(

Thanks for the suggestion though :D

Yeah, looked like it would be very close to AFM & some braces will rub the bonnet - just a thought.
