What are decent tyres for 15" nowadays?
I need some new tyres 195/50r15 and trying to decide what ones to get. Last ones I had for an mx5 were German made goodyear gsd3's which were great but don't make them anymore. Goodyear have the new eagle f1 directional 5 but haven't heard any reports about them. I know the toyo t1r's are great as they re made in Japan as well. I don't need track orientated tyres as its just a street car but still want something decent. So what's good nowadays?

Most of us get Kumho KU31 or Bridgestone Adrenalin, depending on who's offering the best deal at the time. Usually it's the KU31s. They can get as cheap as $85 each.
Most of the Goodyear gsd3s that are sold in Australia are not the same as the well regarded ones made in Germany and sold in Europe and USA. Ours are usually made in SE Asia. I've had 2 sets that came as freebies with second hand wheels I've bought. They're so bad it should have illegal to sell them. I'd check the country of origin before buying any Goodyears.

Oh yes, welcome back to the forum. Does this mean you have another 5?

Thanks! Yeah got an nb last Friday! So the ku31s work well with mx5's? I had them on an e30 and they were good for the first year and then went off. Are s drives any good? Apparently re001's aren't made anymore and they re002 doesn't come in the right size. That's what I was told anyway. So nice to have an mx5 again though!

I've had ku31 on my mx for the last couple of months and love them. The bargain price just makes them that much sweeter
With two laps to go then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is.

Yes, I've them on my NB. It wears well (done 15,000k) and not terribly noisy. Excellent in both dry and wet conditions. Will probably be getting the same when it needs replacing. Price wise, I think it is $120-140 each in 195/50r15.
