'Trim springs' ?

Thanks for that, I have the same passenger /driver bias but only 3 or 4 mm , I've come across this before on other cars and have been told it's a manufacturing/spring bias to compensate for road camber , don't know whether theres any basis in fact though.I've tried Kings on a couple of other cars over the years and each time it was a fail , the spring rates were always good but the ride hieghts always dodgey. :beer:

No probs. I'd feel the same way if I'd had bad experience. Kind of feel that way about Eibachs now after the ones I fitted were so far from the specs they'd quoted. But, amongst many other people, Shaikh at Fat Cat swears by them on his kits so they can't be all bad :wink:

Don't forget that those ride heights I'm quoting for my car are on standard height Kings, not lowered springs, so that puts them spot on for what I was after. This is the first time I've ever used Kings, so far I have no complaints. Hopefully it remains that way

The bias on my car is only a few mm down on the passenger side, but having read the other threads it appears this is very common on either side on NA's so I'm not worried about it now.

Good luck with the search for "your" suspension setup ... there'll be something out there that will fit

I'll be interested to read what you settle on and how it feels.

Hi.
Usually the height differences ( lower on passenger side ) will even up once you sit in the car. We always wheel aligned our competition and road cars with the driver sitting in the car to ensure the alignment was correct.

Hi.
Just had a visit from a friend who had fitted a set of lowered king springs and new kyb shock absorbers on his na. Was not happy with rear ride height (too high)when i saw it last week. Looks great now level and a good height. I enquired what had he done- probably cut the springs- no merely adjusted it. All was revealed when he opened the boot- 2 20kg bags of cement which fit perfectly and he informed me the car handles better than before as he has changed the weight distribution. Always was an innovator!!

Kings will make custom length and rate.... You just have to ask.

Ah Ha--I'll give them a bell on Mon and post up the cost , it's got to be a smarter/easier than the way I'm aproaching it currently .

do you really want a truthful answer to that? :lol:

I think you gotta learn to compromise a little. 5mm incorrect height difference isn't the end of the world. But it has been a deal breaker for you in the past.

I still cannot understand how the soft Teins didn't work out for you. I don't think I ever read a explaination about it. Or missed it somewhere.

My useless advice. Get some king springs and some koni yellows. The konis have a moveable spring perch that are about 15mm apart with 3 different heights. but these can kinda be bumpy for some, and not for others. Personally I think they are soft. While others think the are rock hard. But nothing is perfect. So if you ain't gonna compromise, you are stuffed.

As above or be prepared to hand over big dollars for high end units.

Or maybe go talk to a shop and get them to take you in a car the consider well set up and see if it matches what you think good suspension should do?

Maybe your expectations are un realistic or physically un achievable? Ie a ride where you feel absolutely no bumps (from a pea to big pothole) in the road, yet has rasor sharp turn in and excellent body control in switchback corners.

Sorry for digging this up again, I've been thinking about gettin the mania trim spring for a while, has anyone here that can comment on if they have used it before and possibly some feedback?

Also correct me if I'm wrong but I read it somewhere that our stock suspension have up to 50mm height to play around with? Can someone also comment on this too?

Do Mania still sell these springs? Can't say I've noticed them on their site for a while ...

Can't comment directly as I haven't used these springs, but I'm pretty sure they are the English made trim springs. The same ones as available at MX5Parts UK. On the UK forums there were varying reviews of them, from very happy to broken springs after only a few thousand k's. Some quality of finish issues as well.

Personally, I'd contact King Springs and talk to them.
