And you think painting the lights green are legal?

I don't know, which is why I didn't comment about that. What's with the attitude?
What I do know is that the tint films are illegal, because I noticed that you could buy them specifically for the NC, so I researched them and found that they are not legal. So I post just to let everyone know.

Regie. Brilliant work. I've been thinking about something like this as I have the ugly early model dull silver surrounds (as seen in your first shot). Was looking at geniune chrome ones from mxparts.co.uk but soooo expensive.

Time, if you are keen to give it a shot, Guy is borrowing my spare headlights while he performs the mod (unless he is keeping it a secret haha). When I get my spare pair back, you are welcome to borrow em to keep your car on the road.

I don't like the chrome, I'd prefer the silver to the chrome

Of course not, the green lights have no effect on the light output whatsoever. Then again I have a proper hid setup in my car which, since the car didn't come standard with it it's also illegal. If I get done sh*t happens. There are prolly another handful of things on my car that are illegal....Coilovers/ride height, Goodwin headers, reflashed computer....etc etc

The cat's out of the bag now :D

Hoping to get them started this weekend and (knowing me) finished and installed next weekend. BIG thanks to Regie for lending me his old Lights, there's going to be a cross pollination of all of our car's DNA here....

on what basis can regie say that light output is not affected- measured how? Its a silly conversation- green is a marine marker colour not automotive and is simply illegal and irrelevant. HId has also been canvassed many times and again these are not legal unless OEM supplied which they are not. It does not stop people doing illegal mods but it might stop them getting a rwc at some point and if a fine comes their way fair cop.

yep thats the way i think of it. The lights that i have done this to acually are OEM HID units out of the GT model in Japan, the have the different reflector bowls and run D2S globes

Drags

A couple of weeks ago i hit up the drags with some mates. i was waiting to post up some pictures of the night, but there are no decent ones online

Before i had a run, i said that id be happy if i cracked a 14sec pass

well first run was a 14.7. i was chuffed

By the end of the night i had got it down to a 14.66. Not too bad i thought!

On the other hand, i still have my 4.1 FGR siting here next to me. That will hopefully be installed sometime in the next month

I met up with Guy Coles to help put in his blacked out eyes for Macey. Looks real menacing now!
You can see the red behind the projectors in some pics

Neil - You beat me !!!

Firstly thanks for your and Lara's help - You had other plans and you helped me out, thanks to you both. Both impromptu and a disappointment initially for lunch. Thanks for getting your hands (and arms and probably legs) dirty.

Secondly, I've chosen Red (Cherry red in my case) to match my theme. As it's the backing plate that's painted, probably only flash photography will bring it out properly (Cat's eye principle) and I'll have a go during the week after I've put her eyelids back on. I'm hoping for the "mean look"

Regie, I've seen your car close up and dríven it as well, the green looks awesome mate....... has GREMLIN written all over it

Looks great Guy. Did you have any difficulty getting the headlights open?

Cheers again for the triangle today!

Hey Spence,

First one was a challenge but from there all good, Lessons learned:
Heat Gun on full
When the bonding agent bubbles all the way around you are are at 75%
use a wide splay to separate - not a screwdriver
use the heat to rebond, and pressure but understand where the pressure is needed
Push hard to rebond or use ice (not recommended)

Hey Tim,
Mine are out now (and in really good nic..) and have the grey surrounds so you won't have to sand them. I'd suggest trying to source the White indicator lens if it's at all possible, black on red with no other colour would look awesome on your car. I'll drop mine off to Regie next weekend so chat with him if you want to exchange.

Tail lights are next.........
