Richard's Black NB8B

Postby Rich_E » Fri Oct 12, 2012 10:53 pm

Took the plunge and bought a beautiful NB8B today :D
Thank you John from Christies Automobiles in Kirrawee.
The car is in great condition and completely stock with the exception of the Tallboy rollbar and some 20mm wheel spacers.

It will likely stay this way for some time until I have saved a bit more money, eventually I would like to fit a Torsen LSD but no other plans... except I will be building a special bike rack for it soon
probably something a bit like this...

Anyone tried something similar?

I think the general consensus is unless you're running extended studs those spacers don't leave enough thread for the nuts to be dríven safely. Might make no difference with daily driving but buying a set of wheels with a lower offset would give you peace of mind.

Great '8B though, our cars are identical minus my SE lip!

I think the 20mm spacers would be bolt ons?

My mistake, my comment still has some relevance though as those hub centric spacers do have some critism behind them; some people swear by them so it all depends on which side of the fence you sit on :)

MadMikey, Apu,

Thanks for the info, I will take a wheel off and check the spacers, never thought to pay it much attention until now.

Kev05, cheers this is actually my second MX5, I had an NA clubman about 3 yrs ago but then had kids and thought I needed a sensible car.... I have since changed my mind ;)

Richard
