Yeah will be doing a group buy, my mate in Europe gets them made. Same guy that does the low-profile headlight kit, hard top brackets, HVAC panel.

I was wondering where you were going to mount your ECU.

I had to mount my PLX gauge modules in the glovebox because the space next to the OEM ECU in the passenger footwell was occupied by the Adaptronic ECU.

One other option I had that you might consider too, is to mount it under the passenger seat on the floor, there's space under the passenger seat. This requires lots of harness-extending work which you probably want to avoid though. I discounted this location since it's too hard to get at the PLX connectors if the gauges stop working because a connector has come loose - that shouldn't be an issue with the ECU connectors though.

I've also considered mounting a backplate in the glovebox location for the sensor modules to mount to and modding the glovebox into a hinged cover for the backplate since now there's very little room in the glovebox - it would look much neater.

Also, the NA glovebox plastic hinge mounts are more brittle than the NBs, the left side is prone to snapping so you don't want the hinge bearing too much weight.

Going under the seat should have been my first choice, decent room under there and would be a neat solution. But you're right about doing extensions, it's not something I want to do at this stage.

Do you mean the metal hinges on the bottom of the lid? I'm hoping to apply more epoxy tonight, maybe hang some weights off the studs to see what they can do. If it holds up OK, I might keep it the way it is until I get more time to fab something better. I was thinking of using "u-bolts" to bolt the ECU to that fat bar that goes under the dash.

So my first attempt for the ECU mount was a failure, it sucked and was messy looking. This next mount attempt is so simple, not sure why I didn't think of it first. Checkout the photos below.


Used my spare dash to plan my bracket, much easier when flipped upside down.


Had some some left over angle aluminium, perfect for the task at hand.


Quickly positioned to make sure it clears everything.


Stickered my ECU because it's so awesome.



Marked all the holes and drilled everything.


Double checking that all the holes lined up.


Done! Very very happy how it turned out, the bracket is strong and holds it at a good position. The glove box closes up fine, still emptied out so no real use but it'll be locked up anyway.

I quite like that mounting solution (bonus points for the funky sticker) and may redo my PLX gauges in a similar vein since it's quite tidy, thanks for that photo of the underside of the glovebox roof. When I'm at MX5 Plus, I like to look at the wrecks out the back since it gives me the opportunity to see options not immediately obvious when all the trim is in place.

You might be lucky. There are a fair few clips under there that keep the loom in place.

Definitely happy with the position, and LOL I do the same at MX-5 Plus. It's always good to get a different perspective on things to get better ideas.

Had a chance to try out TunerStudio's Output Test Mode, basically allows you test fire your injectors and coils. Something I really wanted to do because I wired my coils for sequential fire.

Firing order is 1-3-4-2 so they are wired as such:

• Cylinder No. 1 - Spark A
• Cylinder No. 2 - Spark D
• Cylinder No. 3 - Spark B
• Cylinder No. 4 - Spark C

I initially wired them in the wrong order but luckily I caught on this error early.





Tried to take a photo of the spark but that nearly impossible so I've uploaded a video below.



I also had a chance to change the transmission front seal and gasket.

So I picked up a NB8A for a daily

Pretty much stock, paint is in good condition, has later model headlights, taillights, front bar, interior and seats.

So all you are missing is Vvt, a low fuel light and a 6 speed and you would have nbb!
