Re: NC supercharger storys and lies
Hi Dann, agreed. It should be noted that it is only In the last few weeks that we have started to fully understood the situation, which is why folks haven't heard or reported much. raceme81 has scooped the story but only by a day or two.

Re: NC supercharger storys and lies
Well my supercharged '06 NC has officially passed emissions! First go. Big thanks to Jay at TDR Tuning and Chris Gough at MX5 Racing. You guys are amazing!
We've documented the whole thing and will release a video soon enough.
Its all down hill from here. Brake test and then inspection.
As far as I'm aware, my car will be the first legal forced inducted NC in Aus.
Incase anyone missed it, here is the report I wrote on what I've been through with my SC'd NC: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php?p=5964278&postcount=38

Re: NC supercharger storys and lies
Neil!!!! Great news!!!
Tell me just how stock did you need to go with the exhaust to get the emissions?
Did you need to do anything other than get the tune right?
I was going to install my Cosworth next week but had decided to wait and see if the emissions was achievable.
Looks like Chris might be a busy man in the new year!

Oh definitely have to go back to the stock exhaust system. No way the car will pass without the two cats. Down the road we will see if you can move the cat, which is on the header, onto the midpipe so that is all you would need to pass. Then you could have free flowing header. Other than that, just good tuning!

Re: NC supercharger storys and lies
Is the emissions test valid in Victoria ie. can the kit be engineered for Vic?

Re: NC supercharger storys and lies
EPA Vic has rules relating to ECUs that are hard to pass.
Basically, any ECU that can have any setting changed is illegal (including piggyback's and chipped stock ones)
For an ECU to be able to pass it must be able to be locked so that it cannot be retuned, and there must be proof that the tune on there passes the applicable ADR and emissions tests.

Re: NC supercharger storys and lies
Ta, as expected. It's always been a nightmare to have anything approved in Vic.
Thus what is being engineered is only valid in NSW.

Re: NC supercharger storys and lies
So happy to hear someone has passed one now
Congrats for putting not only the car on the road legally, but also for putting a bunch of the BS to rest in doing so.
Interesting to see the twin cat requirement - is it thought that that has been the limitation in people being unable to pass in the past?

Re: NC supercharger storys and lies
Hi Sean, I am not aware of anyone else submitting their FI NC for IM240 other than Neil and myself. The reason my car (only just) failed is that the tune was poor. That is being addressed now and as per Neil I expect to pass when I run my test soon. There can be a huge wait for the test as they only have a couple of slots available each week. This is a free service after all!
