Looks like a neat gas conversion.

Are the govt still giving you a couple of grand back as a subsidy? It used to be that with federal and states handouts you could convert for virtually free!

The rebate is down to $1,000 I think. I understand it's dropping again next July.

A pity, really. I think gas is awesome!

It's been one of those days...

Today I planned to do my gearbox boot change and fit my new leather gaiter. But I can't get the damn gear knob off! It's so tight, it's like it's been welded on! Used up the last of my WD40 and hope it will have loosened up some for when I have another go at it next Saturday.

So I thought I'd replace the interior light bulbs with the LEDs which arrived last week. The passenger one went in no problem. The driver's side came out easy and then one of the connectors snapped off. So I finished putting in the new LED, broke out my soldering iron and soldered the connector back on and fitted the unit back in. But now it doesn't illuminate... Going to have to figure out what's wrong with that too.

So I thought I'd fit my new aeriel. The old one came out easy-peasy. The new one went on simple-as. And then I realised the new aeriel has a different connector to what's in the car!!  . Just as well I don't listen to the radio much anyway... Here's a photo of the new aeriel.

Not one of my most productive days...

HI Miles,
You should be able to purchase an adapter for the anttena (try Jaycar) and the problem with the LED's may be that it is in the bulb holder incorrectly ( LED's are polarity sensitive).
Best.
Greg.

Congrats on the MX-5

Very neat LPG setup you have there

I'm surprised no one has asked the question or maybe I'm blind. How many kms do you get out of a tank of LPG?
Did it cost much to convert it to LPG?

The tank is a 42-litre, giving me 36 useable litres. I reckon I have about 290-300kms range, though I haven't gone past 265km yet.

At current prices a full tank costs c.$20.00. I'm averaging 9.6kms per litre at $0.065 per km.

Hey Miles, is the gear knob OEM? Even so, it might have been glued on to stop it unscrewing. Might get better purchase on it by detaching the gear lever from the top of the GB turrett - bit fiddlly, but there should be enough room if you loosen & lift the centre console to the get at the out rubber boot surround bolts & then the inner rubber boot surround bolts. Alternatively, think you can detach the vinyl boot from the console once you lift it up to the limit of the vinyl boot, or just cut it if it's already worn.

So that means I won't be able to fit my new leather gaiter. Unless I acquire another gear lever and replace my current one with that.

In other news, here's what my old interior lights were like:

Hi Miles,
You can always purchase another shift knob (Arty ( Phil) might make you one to order, pick a pool ball that you like and he will do the rest :) and cut the existing one off with an angle grinder fitted with a 1mm disc, or get someone else to do it if you are not brave enough.
Greg.
P.S. LED's are beaut :BROADY: .

Depends whether removing the gear lever from the GB allows you to unscrew or break the bond of any glue by being able to grip either end of the gear lever, yourself, or with a helper, or in a vice. Alternatively, depending on how the new boot is made, you might be able to undo some stitching &/ or cut, fit & glue its collar if present.
