Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Hey mate, yah thats correct, the whole front section unbolts. The rear is similar to a bd but the mounting points go down to the floor pan behind the seats for the main hoop.

Love to see fabrication, thanks for sharing! Always wanted that style of intercooler setup if I ever turbo, looking forward to the dyno figures.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Your brother is going to be very happy!
I'll message you, if possible I wouldn't mind dropping by and having a chat in the next few weeks!

Man this is bullshit cool hey. It's awesome seeing someone chase big power very keen to see how this ends up. Also jelly of ur front cover on the turbo lol I want whistles hahaha

No worries Okibi, other people posting stuff up was what motivated me. Pretty sure you would have to cut some some material out under the hood to route piping over the rad. This car has got some fiberglass humps in the hood to accomodate the pipes so It wasn't too hard. I might revise the hotside pipe and route the filter somewhere, just a bit hard when you have a 4" bellmouth on the turbo

Yah he's stoked with the way it all looks and sounds.
No dramas, drop by whenever and change your clutch so we can hit wsid in a few weeks

Thanks mate, dunno how you build all your exhausts on the floor

Yah the intention with this car is to built a screama just for street and occasional strip duties, my brother grew up around rotas and v8's until I brought home my first turbo mx5 a long time ago . It will see the circuit at some stage but not often. Time for a gtx? it will bolt straight up to your housing PM me if you do decide to go down that path

Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
i was gonna just change the front compressor cover for an antisurge one but theres like minimal gap between that and my chassis rails so i wont really be able to fit anything bigger unfortunately unless i bash my chassis rails a bit lol

Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Ahuh,
Your running a 2871r right? There is a gtx2876R, t2 framed, comp cover is still similar. Will spool more than a 2871 up top and respond better. Its right in the middle of 2871 and 3071.
I'll prob be getting one for the blue car. Either a 2867 or 2863 both will support over 350 atw.

Re: Turbo NA-6.8 Build
Just a quick update on whats been happening over the past 9 months or so, been a while..
Gonna try keep it brief as there have been alot of changes and too much to post so ill just post the important stuff
Some new specs on the engine/turbo dept:
Freshly built 1.8L 9:1 JE pistons, whole rotating assembly balanced inc flywheel
ARP throughout
cometic mls HG
VVt oil pump and running ext petersons oil reg ( thanks for the info on this wozzah ), welded bungs in the sump for braided AN lines
Made the change to BP4w Head, I port matched and cleaned up the ports, HD valve springs, removed butterflies and gutted what I could from the vics manifold.
Built a new top mount tubular manifold with low angle merge collector + Stainless 3" dump
new hard pipe coolant reroute
Made a new fan shroud with twin slim line thermo fans
New RRFPR with hard line to AN adapters and braided fexible nylon fuel hose for future e85 switch
BW EFR 6758 .64 hotside
Built a custom baffled catch can with braided lines
Built a custom Air box, incorporated the vac lines/breather and water lines for a cleaner bay.
Just picked up a new 3.6 torsen off Lou, Installed some solid bushes, all I can say is its prob one of the best mods for a boosted mx running with a 6 speed.
Dyno'd the car a couple weeks ago and put down 259hp to the rear wheels on 10psi, really looking forward to seeing what this setup does with some more boost, hopefully turbo doesnt fall over at higher boost pressures where the billet garrett's shine. Also in the process of building a custom Intake manifold with velocity stacks and 70mm billet throttle body. Ill do a before and after dyno with the intake manifold to see where it helps or hurts. My goal at this stage is to make power as efficiently as possibe, so far the car makes as much power as the absurdflow setup I had with 8psi less so were on the right track. Once the powerplant is sorted and put through its paces we'll move onto a more track orientated setup and possibly a full weld in cage in place of the cusco 6 point, well see. Also started learning AutoCad at the start of the year through my engineering/fabrication studies so Iv'e stared CnC'ing alot of things wish I knew this earlier loving life with the cnc stuff.
Manifold
Dump pipe
Reroute, oil pressure reg and RRFPR
CnCd some mounting tabs
Airbox Mock-up
Baffled catch can with drain plug, will check to see whats happening inside can after some hard driving. After the oil/air separator has done its job, I have vented it pre filter so any vapours that are expelled will be sucked up pre-filter inside the airbox and not post filter so it coats everything with oil if any.
Have since pulled the heater hoses off and used earls high temp sheathing, as well as a longer oil feed fitting so its away from the DP.
Here's a pic of the intake manifold ive started building, the velocity stacks they are a thing of beauty. I CnC'd the plenum, folded it up and will stick the stacks inside then will sheet it up. Will have some more progress in this during the week..
Here are some randoms of some other jobs I have been doing..
Big HP SR setup
Low angle merger, with a perfect blend from merger to flange. The car will be running 30psi on its low boost setting so I made sure there were no sharp edges or bad transitions that could cause any turbulence. The motor thats in the pics is just a dummy motor for all the fab work till the big mama engine is in..
collector to flange port work.
Massive 60mm wastegate
Big Precision turbo
Charge pipes, coldside one piece to remove another point of failure.
Dump pipe purged and welded
1.6L long runner top mount, this was for a guy who cracked a shithouse ebay manifold about 4 times.
Made a custom alloy checkerplate toolbox for a tradie painter, cnc'd all the panels then welded it and built the lockable drawer so he can tidy up all his eqiup.
