195/50R15 tyres on 15x8 rims?
Anyone here running this combo?
The wheels I have fitted have quite an aggressive offset so I have to run the car quite high to avoid scrubbing. I'm hoping running the skinnier tyre might help a bit.
Thanks in advance

Not sure if your worried about it but that size will technically be illegal unless you can find a tire company that lists them as approved.

Re: 195/50R15 tyres on 15x8 rims?
I have a set of rims that I'm waiting on they are 15x8 with +25 and I'm wondering what would be an appropriate tyre for them, I have coilovers and planning on running the car quite low but still at a legal height, it's a 93 NA8. Thought someone from this thread would be able to help me out, I have the 195 x 55 in mind.
Cheers
EDIT: I don't know much about tyres at all.

195/50 will be fine for the 8's mate, pretty popular choice, I'll be running 195/50's on 8.5's so don't sweat too much haha

Tim,
drop into Option1 Garage
They have lots of experience with guys stretching tyres for that JDMYO look.
They will also fit them for you no worries

Sorry for necro and semi jack, but I am planning on getting the same tyres on the same spec rims.
Would a set of RE002s suffice for this? Or are there other brands/models that you guys running this combo, would recommend instead?

Should really run a 205 on an 8. Even that is still illegal.

And you try and tell the young people of today that and they won't believe you.sailaholic wrote:Should really run a 205 on an 8. Even that is still illegal.

Re: 195/50R15 tyres on 15x8 rims?
I run 195/50/15 ku31s on my 15x8 wheels. I did have one fail on the track driving at 110% on a 40 degree day. Can't imagine what the track temp was.
However have since done alot of spirited driving (1500k's in 2 days) of nsw and Victoria's best roads no sweat.

Cue responses of:
"oh, but I know a guy who runs 165s on 11s and he hasn't had a blowout"
"they do that all the time in Japan, I saw a picture of it on the internet"
And other "I saw a picture of it once so I'm more qualified than the people who made the damn tyre" excuses.
I wouldn't go below a 205 on an 8, if you wanted to run 195s you may as well have kept the 6" wheels it started with.
Or, just bought 8" wheels that fit.
