I used some U section rubber from Clark Rubber.

Does the same things, but looks neater and doesn't hold water (so it doesn't look manky after a while)

That's awesome, man. Can't wait to see how it sounds. I've got a cat back exhaust which sounds great already.

You will probably find that under WOT the intake is louder than your exhaust lol

Er guys, how does such a mod affect roadworthiness? I would suspect cutting any type of hole of this size in the firewall would require an engineers certificate at a later date. I know this is a common and popular mod, but how do you stand when it's time to sell the car?

There's a few schools of thought.

One is that it's not actually the firewall being cut, but the thin sheetmetal just above where it ends. (I'm not sure how vicroads views this part)

The other is that if you need to sell the car you simply put something over the hole, bolt the washer bottle back and it covers the hole well enough that nobody notices.

+1 - access is into windscreen cowl area & the firewall (if you want to call it that) continues on the far side of the cowl area.

Or take it to a panel shop & get it repaired when it comes time to sell.

Might want to remove/customise that plastic shield sitting behind the firewall that sits above your intake, it will block off some of that cool air you're trying to breathe in.

To delete that hole, I'd put a thin metal plate either side. Pop rivet them on.

Nice and neat finish and only a few minutes of work.

Hi.
DO NOT modify or remove the plastic panel above the air intake. It is there to prevent water from entering the cold air intake for the cabin. It does not in any way restrict the air intake on the system you are installing.
