Howdy... anyhow.. the car aint that good... so I'll throw in the pics for those that don't like stories
Looks good huh? Well she aint really, looks good from far but far from good... but I am rescuing her before she is too far gone... at least it is all cosmetic (i hope)
She will look good tho, I can't help myself , at least she was cheap... (i may have still payed to much mind you with the fixups required- but cheap relatively)
Wheels - Need a refurb, particularly the kerbside (but all need it to some degree)...
Paint, needs a couple of scrapes sorted, then a paint correction, why did I want a black and tan car Aaaarh?
Needs a major service, change all fluids/filters/plugs, a wheel alignment, then she will be done.... sssstttock, mmumust keep her sstotock
Anyhow the yarn... why this car?
Due to a recent work upheaval (Julia is doing that to Australian Manufacturing - but that is an argument in a pub ,fueled by beer an not for this thread )... I found myself with an "opportunity".
Anyhow, I got Bounced late on the Friday arvo, Got offered a six month contract on the Monday... wow... stuff happens.... I handed back the keys to my recently brand new Stonking 5.7 second VW Passat Highline V6 Sportspack on Tuesday... and walked away from my lease... (note, always pay the walk away premium if leasing!)...
Ok, so what do i do now? Anything practical is going to be a disappointment after the Passat... I need something cheap and small and economical (paying for private petrol now)... I could get an old tired hypermiled mark V (but I would want a new one) or go back to my old WRX days but none at my price point excited me... etc etc...
There has been the recent discussion about the 86, and got tired of trying to argue against that "no power = $h1t car" on the Dub forums (not everyone, just the unenlightened)... defending MX5's was on my mind... could I? i mean it basically just needs to get me to work... cheap on fuel... reliable... I couldn't go there really...
My first car was a 76 two door Mazda coupe, sweet car, until I ripped out the 1.8, put a 13b mildport in it what goes around and all that...
As a child, my neigbour had a black TR4 with the late 60's bright red interior, they all had black hoods... when it got vandalised in the late 70's , brown was the new black, so he put tan seats and tan hood on it... and it was the ducks nuts...
I was prowling for an MX5, tripped over this one, black and tan, brought back the memories .... I needed a car quick, seems OK mechanically, drive her around whilst I sort her out, then I will be happy ... my wife thinks I am mad... ... and I have forgotten about the Passat completely... except for the Dynaudio... Bose? Bose who?

Hey JayMo, welcome!
I know an ex-owner with a NC that looked exactly like this. Last I seen he was selling the car 2 months ago. Could this be the same car

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?
