What needs to be better?
If it is reliable and performs to its needs, why change it. It isnt blowing off the turbo or anything.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
More the point, while a shorter length may be better, is it worth the extra time/cost/effort?
ie: Is it worth an extra 5hrs labour, and $100 in materials, to make it spool only 50rpm earlier?
(note: I've just pulled figures out my arse)

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
So the leak was caused by a split oil return hose, which for the record was the factory part.
Upon inspection this afternoon the car lost a hell of a lot of oil, and the decision has been made to not risk it, and pull it down/forge it here and now, rather than in 6 months time as the plan was. This allows us to check the replace the bottom end bearings, which are what cops a hard time when you go low on oil.
So 300+rwhp here we come!
Heres the bad news,
I apologize to anyone whos stuff takes a little longer to arrive. Its number one priority that I get this car finished as fast as possible so that I can get on with other peoples work full time again.

70 minutes to pull an SE engine and all the loom and exhaust.
Woot.
Should be built in a week if parts arrive then back in and off to the MX5 adaptronic experts, mania to make whatever it makes (300rw on BP98?)

The SE has a hard line for the oil return, so I assume you mean the Datsun factory part?

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Lol yes you are right, the
datsun
part.
Lel.
But Im redoing that part so all of the parts and install will be my choice and responsibility and all will be good.
This car.. will... decimate all.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Wow, been a while since Ive looked in here, sorry rxmx.
Nah mate, just the rods and pistons within a gram and call it a day. It will retain stock cams most likely and wont be revved past 7k.
Update:
Everything has been taking its time lately, Ive been accumulating parts for builds at an alarming rate and now am poor.
I have a big stack of SS straight pipe.
I have boxes of V bands, I have over a dozen exhaust flanges, some are the gorgeous SLS ones that are going on all of the 1.8 builds, I have a big box of SS mandrel bends, I have 32mm straight pipe and mandrel bends in 304SS for reroutes, I have a couple of boxes of works engineering universal intakes, I have silicone out the wazoo, and turbo flange after turbo flange and exhaust flange after exhaust flange.
Im waiting at least a week before I can start assembling the SE engine, still waiting on machining and crack testing.
I have a few days off this week and assuming the boxes of SS cats, hotdogs and mufflers show up Ill get some of my oldest orders done.

Probably,
I was in a spirited driving mood, dont remember waving.. But Im a friendly guy so it probably was
Hang on, 4wd full of happy kids? Yeah that was me.
I was going to a friends who has more tools than me finishing a jig for tubular T28 SE replacement manifold.
While Im here, I have all the bits for PaulF and Goonie either already here or with a courier on the way (last little bits finally arrived in Oz), Ill build it all in one hit on paulFs car over 2 days and then its just a case of fitting it. Super happy with the quality of components.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Haha.
Nope, multicoloured NB, down near the bottom roundabout/entry.
Saw a black NA come out of the carpark and onto the roundabout. She was driving (unless it was a dude with long hair?) and the guy in the passenger seat was waving as I followed them up to the lights.
Could have been another black NA - I just assumed it was you based on the location and relatively low number of black NAs around these parts.
