NC Brake Caliper SIZE..
Does anyone know for a FACT if the brake calipers on the NC2 are the same size as those fitted to the 2005 NC1?

Same size rotor and caliper
But you don't go fast enough to need big brakes

There never has been any mention of a rotor, pad or caliper change from Mazda for the NC.
All sites to purchase pads have the same part number irrespective of NC manufacture date.

Re: NC Brake Caliper SIZE..
Thanks Russell and CB for your replies. I had been close to buying a new NC a while back but then lost interest due to seemingly having to have to put up with 17" low profile tyres AND having to contend with no 'spare' wheel!!
But yesterday I phoned Vendetta Wheels (1300 836 338) and discovered that their V-15 (15x6.50) wheel is listed on their files as suitable to fit to the 2005 NC. Having a 10 stud centre these wheels will also fit the NB and NA. The V-15 is also available in 14" and 17".
The spokesperson told me that the Vendetta V-15 wheel's off-set is 40 Positive. She said that the 2005 MX5 NC's off-set is also 40 Positive. She mentioned too that the Mazda 3's off-set is 45.(AND we know that the Mazda3's wheels won't work on an NC because the NC's brake calipers are bigger than the Mazda3's and foul the wheel..)
She said that the V-15 (15"x6.50") would suit a 205/55/15 tyre. This size tyre has an OD of 607 which is 9mm lower than the original 205/45/17. I will be rechecking this info at Bob Jane's ASAP but I'm now feeling very encouraged by this seemingly possible option.

Re: NC Brake Caliper SIZE..
You have been given the wrong information.
A 15" wheel WONT fit the NC.
The offset is 55mm.
A 16" Mazda 3 wheel will fit the NC.
You need to be careful when looking at sizes to fit a 2005 MX5. The NC came out in August 2005 with the 114.2 (pcd) x 5 studs. The 2005 NB8C was 100 (pcd) x 4 studs.
When looking for NC gear it's best to look at 2006 and above.

Re: NC Brake Caliper SIZE..
Going down 2 sizes on an NC will never fit. You will start hitting things.

Re: NC Brake Caliper SIZE..
Thanks for this info Charlie. Obviously the spokesperson at Vendetta Wheels has the incorrect info concerning the off-set of the NC. As I dislike 17" wheels intensely and am not a fan of 16" either it now seems unlikely that an NC is in my future. 15" is more than enough in my book! 14" is my favourite size.. I think this rush to ever increasing size for wheels and tyres is simply beserk! For a road car ...a 45 or 50 profile = a harsher ride and greater expense when renewing than a 55 (or higher). Very good business for the tyre shops tho! Cheers from a slowpoke!

Slowpoke, you are the first person who won't upgrade to a better car because the size of the rims are too big. In a couple of years you won't be able to buy 14 or 15 inch tyres. Update while you can.

Sorry to hear SP - sounds like it will be something other than an MX5 for a new open top motoring experience.
