I have a question on what you mean by pockmarks, are you talking about small chips or an actual fault in the membrane between the glass sheets?

The kind of sandblasted affect that appears after about 10-15 years use. My '89 NA6 with original windscreen was the same back in '04 - had to replace the windscreen in it for RWC as I was selling it. Same with my current NA8, which is also on its original screen.

Thank you all for your replies. As 93Clubman says its a 'sand blast' effect on the outside of the windscreen. It only becomes a problem when driving into direct sunlight or when facing on-coming headlights at night. Unfortunately my Swift is now also suffering from the same complaint! Both cars have comprehensive insurance with Shannons but my understanding is that a claim can only be made if the windscreen is severely cracked. I'm going to try some caustic soda in the hope of a short term fix..

Give Auto Glym - Glass Polish a shot, I think its about $16, It helps minimize scratches and such. May make it a bit better. It's probably my favorite cleaning product, works wonders. May help depending how bad it is, worth a shot for $16.
