Yes. Start to create a table as there are inputs/outputs and you need to map this out to ensure you optimise the outcomes.

Sequential injection needs nothing extra. Boost control needs an output, as does VICS and Fan control, and yes another input/output is needed for smooth AC control.

Hi/low boost could be just cutting the boost control feed and letting the wastegate (set to 6psi) manage it for low, and the switch enables the boost controller which then lets the MS2 keep the wastegate controlled to 12psi - so no output needed to control that switch. Yeah?

Yeah i could run the wastegate setpoint as "low boost" then the MS controlled point as "high boost" i guess.

This is currently what i am running:

I can see I have a few inputs available, but what output can I use for the A/C control?

Does the 99/00 MX5 have a knock sensor? can we use the knock circuit?

Whilst the current code doesn't allow this, you could use ADC2 for an output of something else maybe, and free that output for the AC configuration. Mmmmmmm

So things are moving forward.

What are people doing for knock sensing? From what I can tell the 99/00 MX5 has a knock sensor but the knock sensing isnt enabled.
Anyone played around with this? How is everyone tuning ignition with no knock sensing?

I am also getting the Voltagereg together now. Does anyone know the connector PIN that goes to the dash voltage warning light?

From what I can tell, this is the alternator pins are:
1Q Alt Warning light
1O Alt Field

It also looks like this is the knock sensor wire:
2F Knock
has anyone got the DIYPNP2 knock circuit working with the stock 99/00 sensor? I find it strange the sensor is not utilised as this is a massive tuning aid.

I have been a bit quiet for the last couple of weeks.
I had bit of a disaster when my heater core sprung a leak spraying my legs and ECU with hot coolant. Because I had the ECU out and resting in the passenger foot well it got totally soaked and was destroyed.. Thankfully I was running on the factory ECU and not the MS DIYPNP2.
I have now bypassed the heater core, dried the interior and have the car running on the new ECU. Everything is running great and working as it should except for this pesky alternator control circuit!

What happened:
The original ECU had about 15V across the battery when the engine was running. When I use the new ECU with no circuit it is about 11.8V and slowly drops, down to about 11.3V. When I put the new circuit in, first off it sat at about 12.5V, then backed off to the same 11.8V like it wasn’t working at all. On the drive from my office to home I was keeping an eye on the voltages and it was slowly going down from 11.8V down to about 11.3V. All of a sudden with no input from me I saw the Alt warning light come on the dashboard and then slowly fade out. I looked down at the voltage and it was 15.8V or there abouts. It stayed around the 15V mark then slowly went back down to 11.8V and then ran the battery down to 11.3V before I shut the engine down.

I pulled the ECU back out of the car and put it onto the 12V power supply. I am getting 12V and ground to the circuit fine. When I measure the voltage between ground and field output I am getting 0V (I assumed at 12V this should be 0.5V). When I measure the voltage between ground and alt warning light I am getting about 0.15V (again at under 12.7V I would have thought I would have the full 12V here to illuminate the globe)

Can anyone offer assistance? I have included some pictures of my constructed circuit.

I have come back from my holiday and finally had some time to spend on the ECU today.

Nothing I did on the previous alternator control circuit would get it to work... It wasn’t functioning correctly at all so, I abandoned it. I went and bought an adjustable voltage regulator and a prototype PCB and set to making the DIYAutotune's circuit.

This is how the new PCB looks mounted in the MS case.

I have tested the circuit at it works perfectly with the Voltage sitting at 14.4V

Now this is working I’ll be swapping the injectors out, taking out the AFM and getting the turbo on :)
