Australian Motorkhana Championship 2012
Ok so all the details for the event are here;
http://www.motorkhana.com.au/
I am tempted, although not 100% at this stage.
Thought Id put this up to see how many 5ers were thinking of going!
Keep in mind that the MX5 was gods gift to Motorkhanas!

Got offered a drive of a 370s Infinity in the Alpine Classic Rally that weekend, still think I'd rather be doing skids
It will be my first time driving the car in anger with the new Torsen, so I don't expect much, but I figure itll be a great event.

Re: Australian Motorkhana Championship 2012
With my car off the road, and resources a little thin, looks like Im giving this one a miss
Plus, having just changed the diff, Im going to need practice before jumping into the nationals! Next year perhaps.
Best of luck to all MX5ers giving it a go!

Re: Australian Motorkhana Championship 2012
So Facebook tells me Peter Lepherd took out class B and second production outright.
Any news from our other mx5ers in attendance? 6 entries I can see on the entry list, no results posted yet.

Re: Australian Motorkhana Championship 2012
The results are now up on the website http://www.motorkhana.com.au/
It was a great day with mx5s well represented. CapitalF won class B and 2nd production on handicap.
I managed to come second in B class and also won the production car shootout by 0.1 seconds (CapitalF had packed up by then giving me a chance :-)
CapitalF's son also won the junior production category in an mx5 - he is very fast and beat me in a number of the tests.
Unfortunately one of the mx5s with two drivers had a clutch pipe problem and had to retire half way through.
Thanks to de Bounce for making the long trip up from Melbourne - it was nice to meet up and add another mx5 into the mix.
The event was well run by HSCCQ and went smoothly with nearly 70 competitors doing 12 tests over the day. The next Qld motorkhana is on 4th November if anyone is interested.
Cheers SCB

Re: Australian Motorkhana Championship 2012
Nice work SCB! I recall seeing your videos on YouTube, very smooth and clearly fast!
I'm already planning an attack on the 2013 Nationals... So keen in fact that im even considering running a few motorkhanas next year to get more practice! (NSW series only had 3 Tarmac events this year )
Not sure if the mx5 club would support it, but I know I can get 30 entries from my drifting buddies. Time will tell!
I hear 2013 will be in S.A

How did Bob go? S.A. for 2013, cool, I'll be there
With two laps to go then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is.

Re: Australian Motorkhana Championship 2012
It was a great event and MX5s dominated B class with 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and the remaining entrants suffering from a breakdown as above.
Stu above - scb - did a great summary already.
Good on you debounce for coming all the way up from Vic. I hope you enjoyed the trip over all.
I only learnt mid this week that they keep records for every class for every test at each AMC and Jeremy my son set a new class record for Top Hat (beat me by 13/100ths in that test the little bugger) and I set 5 other national records. Wooooot! I hope they hang around for a while as I have been doing motorkhanas for 5 years now and am hanging up my hat. Next year will just be a few khanacross events on the dirt. It's Year 12 for Jeremy next year too. Dash - our NA6T - will have an easy year.
Cheers,
Peter
