NC: Who here is interested in a NC RHD Turbo Kit???
Hi all,
There has been a bit of development over on miata.net in regards to a new player to the NC turbo game which is very exciting news for those of us with RHD NC's!
This kit that has been produced is of absolute design and quality. Before anyone asks, no it is not EPA approved etc!
Anyway, I have approached Jay (TDR Blackone) over at miata.net to find out if a RHD turbo kit is in the works - definitely interested!
The only issue is, as most would know, our steering shaft is in the way of where the turbo would sit (aka Begi s3 kit).
As a result, a new style of manifold and turbo placement will be needed.
Today/tomorrow, i will take pictures of our engine bays, particularly the drivers side and send over the photos to see what can be done as he does not have access to a RHD NC over in the USA. There may be something that can be done (maybe a small topmount, s2000 sidewinder style who knows, i'll leave it to him).
My recommendations have been:
Garrett GTX2863R
Tial VBand Housed
full vbands everywhere
External wastegate
All else as per his designs.
Who here is interested in such kit as he is more than willing to accommodate us with a RHD kit?
Anyway, i've invited Jay to come over to our forums and have a chat to us about this kit development.
Cheers Dan
Some pictures of the kit currently available to our LHD friends... from what i've heard, 320hp of perfection.

Yup think about the potential this car has.
The Jota GT4 MX5 runs about the same turbo power and does 0-100 in 3.0secs (ok i know with a sequential box etc.) but still, 4-5sec 0-100 should be possible.

Sure, even with the SC you can do 0-100 in under 6 seconds, and that's with stock 3.4" pulley. You can easily lift the boost using a smaller pulley. Not sure about the reliability of high boost (either SC or turbo) on a stock motor though....

Re: NC: Who here is interested in a NC RHD Turbo Kit???
Bit of an update...
Yesterday I took some photo's of my RHD NC engine bay and a video of the steering shaft.
Jay's basically said, it's doable for our NC's - i've shown him images of what the s2000 guys have done (a short runner topmount or a log manifold top mount) with external gate and either a gt2860rs or GTX2863R.
Now the important part....
HE NEEDS 5 PEOPLE in order to build the kit for our RHD MX5's.
Is anyone keen on a kit?

The simplest way would be to buy the begi kit and build a custom manifold to suit RHD for that.
That would be what?
5k total?
Including management.

Price would probably be about $5k USD (he's selling the current kit at $4.9k USD)
The Begi and this kit is a totally different kettle of fish, this kit blows Begi out the water in design and construction, even components used. I've suggested a mini ram topmount manifold (like the old lovefab s2000 kit), otherwise a simple log will do for 300-320whp.

Re: NC: Who here is interested in a NC RHD Turbo Kit???
Reduced piping length (3ft), better construction (welds, and just look at the inside of Begi's downpipe and manifold collector images), better quality components (Tial BOV for example), better constructed manifold (for the US market), much more logical engineering in respect to piping routing, Begi themselves have said they need to go back to the drawing board now, all for roughly similar prices too.
