Thanks mate, received it in the mail yesterday. I have purchased most of the parts from a local supplier and have a few of the harder to get components coming from RS.

My DIYPNP is now built and I am just finishing off with some jumpers and the firmware/base map install.
Hopefully I will be able to test it in the car very soon :)

If you want to try a customsied firmware that improves stable idle, has AC idle support, easier cold and warm start, better tuning and generally improves all round smoothness and performance of the MS2, then let me know and I can point you in the right direction ;-)

I'm actually working v2.8 of that mod which I've released to a few folks and feedback already is that it is even better.

Mate I would love to use it! cheers!
Anything to make it better is obviously great.
I didnt expect the build to go so quickly to be honest... the DIYPNP is an awesome kit, the layout and logical order of everything makes life easy :)

So far I have had no hurdels, im sure something will pop up soon to through a spanner in the works.
This weekend I will finish the jumpers, and hopefully load the firmware and base map. If things dont go pear shapped I will try to run the car Sunday some time.

So far i am running everything bog stock with the sequential injector driver in place and will be enabled.
I also hope for the a/c, fans and vics to be working.
I have yet to put in the alternator control circuit but dont need this to get the car started. As soon as the car is running I'll build this and dial in the correct 14.4V voltage across the battery.

Don't follow the DIY guide for the AC if you want to control it via firmware aka my MODs.

The AC idleup mod uses an input to detect the AC switch/thermo, it then controls an output and via configuration will 1st raise idle duty before turning on the AC compressor a few milliseconds later. You can also have it disable AC when you go full throttle and/or add the main engine fans to aide cooling.

I've got a guide written that if your interested it will explain it all.

Ok it is now all built and jumpered!
I have powered the unit up and successfully loaded some firmware (ms2extra_3.2.1_release).

I loaded the base startup maps but as these were built on an earlier firmware they threw a few errors.
I decided not to worry about this for now as I will probably moving to (ms2extra pre3.3alpha5 gslender v2.7)

Hey gslender.

My car won't have a IAC (for now anyway) because of the throttle bodies I'm using. Can timing advance be used vs water temp to help with increasing idle on a cold engine?

Or better yet closed loop rotational idle control?

The latest gslender mod has 2 mods that help stable idle even without an IAC

1) spark scatter adaptive idle advance, which adjusts spark timing in respect to target idle rpm

2) Adaptive VE, like 1) makes adjustments to fuel to keep idle super stable.

Sorry been a while since i read it and thought it had a more gimiky name then it does. Went back hunting:

Basicly, closed loop control of idle using ignition timing. I belive the coding is similar to that used for idle /anti lag control on rally cars where they want to keep the car/turbo spooled up on the line.

Not as effective as an IACV, but better then nothing

EDIT: Turns out it can be called rotation idle control!

Though the haltec under this function will drop injection events to keep the idle controlled during gear shifts.

Similar stuff on motec

yep it has that now plus fuel too if you want. i get an idle rpm that is only +/- 5 rpm.... its soooo stable on closed loop pid now!

Hey mate.

Does your mod still have "ITB Mode" and where can I download it? :D

Download from the msextra website.

As for ITB mode, I've not looked at it or changed it, but if it needs improving, I know someone who is modding the shite out of the ms2 code !! Lol
