I have a full dance card ATM and have not have time to do any more than have a glass of wine in the garage, I never get tire from admiring my MX-5.

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
Friday ... loaded four track wheels with R-specs and all the gear and drove 10hr to Phillip Island
Saturday ... practice day on GP circuit, Little Reddy was dual entered and covered ~40 laps
Sunday ... 6hr regularity relay, Little Reddy was dual entered and covered 67 laps
Monday ... loaded four track wheels with R-specs and all the gear and drove 10hr to home
Little Reddy ran like a dream, performed admirably on track for about 500km in total, and left me astonished (yet again) about the rugged reliability of these amazing cars.

1) Fitted satin finish Aluminium vent rings
2) 3M CF vinyl wrapped radio and gear stick surround
Next step....I bought an eBay HK special iPhone dock to butcher and fit to ash tray compartment, wire in place, if not that pretty, will then make a top blank plate with slot and cf vinyl wrap to match for iPhone connection and charging (prob take a feed off the current cigarette lighter)
The grey mats in the trays were there when I bought it, was going to throw them out but they are surprisingly practical....will just look for some in black perhaps. Also need a less boring cigarette lighter.

Respect.
Remind me how to get 4 wheels in/on an MX5. Does it involve a bootrack?
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

manga_blue wrote:Basically:
- 2 go on the passenger seat, in line with the car
- 1 goes behind the passenger seat
- 1 goes in the boot.
The process is:
0. If you need to carry things like a helmet or food, etc in the front then put it on the floor in front of the passenger seat now.
1. Slide passenger seat back about half way, and recline the seat back a bit more than usual
2. Put a towel or something on the seat to protect it.
3. Put in the first 2 wheels side by side on the passenger seat and wrap the towel around them the rest of the way.
4. Slide the seat forward as far as you can and then straighten up the back rest as far as you can to lock them in
5. Open the centre arm rest lid (otherwise the next wheel jams it shut)
6. Slide the 3rd wheel down behind the seat (it just fits), making sure you keep the seat belt clear. Take care not to drag the rear carpets down at the same time, otherwise you'll tear them or pull out their plastic holders.
7. Run the seat belt through the spokes of the first 2 wheels and buckle them in.
8. Remove space saver from the boot and put the 4th wheel where it was (it also just fits)

Thanks! Mocked up iPhone dock template last night and taking Dremmel to it this weekend. Trying to resist doing too much and making it look like I did a trolley dash at SuperCheapAuto! I tried a red, blue and green LED in the map light and it looked s!%t so I took it out again back to standard.
Having said that anyone done something interesting with the cigarette lighter that's not a Start button? It looks rubbish currently...
