Hjt i've considered doing the same if/when I ever get a turbo NB. Would make it easier to get towed out of the sand.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Not a fan of the ssr wheels, but I love that design, colour and fitment. Great selection!

Went to JAE at the weekend, and what an amazing show! The car didnt skip a beat the whole time there and it got lots of attention!

Turned the boost up,shes now running 0.6 bar (8.7psi),she pulls alot better now!

A couple of photos people took at JAE

I love the WWII paint, it seems to hide any body imperfections and still look aggressive!

Got a spare Rocker Cover and Inlet Manifold and had a go at spraying them up in VHT Wrinkle Black, didnt come out too bad. The textured finish has come out alot better now its fully dry, will get some better pics when they're fitted

Got the MX5 weighed at a local Weigh Bridge last week and she came in at exactly 1000kg (i guess the 15s,roll cage, turbo kit,PAS,electric windows etc do add up). I'm not expecting to get the weight down to 900kg,but every little helps.

Found a photo online of a half stripped dash and really liked the look,so decided to bite the bullet and have a go myself.

Phase 1

Heater controls are out and so is half of the blower system. Just the main blower/heater unit in the middle, but i think i may struggle removing it with the dash still intact (dont really wanna remove it,as i know it'll never go back in right)

Also a lil video

Ah Sorry didnt know the code to put it on the forum. Thanks for the kind words

Managed to get the dash out today,a couple of sneeky screws hiding in very awkward places but got round it. Removed the 2 hoses that come from the block through the bulk head and into the heater unit. Made a joiner for the pipes and removed the heater unit ok.

Image

Sorted about the wiring but needs more work to make it tidy. Removed the centre bar to cut off the tabs (still needs re-doing) and also trimmed the dash board so it looks abit neater

Image

Going to leave it at that for now,got a car show this Sunday and dont want the car still in bits before the show. Plans after the show are:

- Remove dash and clean up and finish the centre bar and get the bar powder coated.
- Cut out centre console on the dash board
- Make a new centre console out of aluminium
- re-route electric window switches, imobiliser and hazard/light switch onto new centre console

This will then get rid of the centre arm rest and should have everything together :)

Though i'd make the most of what good weather we've got left,so took the MX for a blast

I've had the idea of making my own vented bonnet for awhile, but just couldnt find the right type of vent design. I'd love a Garage Vary bonnet but they're rare as Hen's Teeth,so that was out of the question.I then spotted these GTR inspired vents and thought they'd be perfect! Got hold of another bonnet to cut about and got the Angle Grinder and Dremel out

Heres the vent mocked up on the bonnet

Image

Image

Was quite happy with the fit,so proceeded to rivet them on. This was the deciding factor whether riveting them on would work. Luckily i had some 3.2mm rivets kicking about and they went on a treat

The vents appear to be forcing air into your engine bay, was that the intention?

I like the head light cover!

Small update:

Got myself a spare T25 Turbo from a CA18DET (200sx S13). This will be going away for a full rebuild later on in the year/early next year.

Today my Low Pro Headlights had arrived from JASS on MX5Nutz,so set about fitting them.

Jass had included instructions, some parts were a little confusing but i got there in the end. They still need fine adjusting, but i'm happy for now :)
