Do we need to get a CTP extension for this?

Yes. You need to get it for any motorsport event using your QLD road registered car for your protection. Some venues don't require you to show the proof though.

Mark
Minx dragged my arse around in 1.16.18!!!
Plenty of room for improvement as my coached session was held up a lot with traffic

Re: Driver Training at Morgan Park Warwick QLD
Thanks for organising a fantastic day at Morgan Park Jeff, I learned a lot and the track was great:
Jeff warned me that I was engaging the clutch when braking on approach to turn 1 on the main straight, a nasty habit I have when needing to brake followed by a gear change, which really unsettles the car.
On my last session, I had Graham, one of the instructors on-board and he gave me a lot of great advice:
* he quickly picked up my unnecessary use of the clutch on turn 1 (and several other turns) and it was amazing the difference, there was no need to do a gear change at all on turn 1, and some of the other turns. MINX had told me this earlier in the day but I didn't know how it was possible since the car felt loose during the turn - now I know why.
* on turn 3 through to the approach of turn 4, I had a tendency to lift off the throttle; by using more of the track and more of "the cahonas", there was no need to come off the throttle at all (this subsequently gave me a couple of "scary/wiggly" moments when making "hairpin" turn 4 though since I was still braking at the same point despite "coming in hotter").
* I was "flattening out" turns 10, 11 and 12 since that's what the car felt like it wanted to do but that made my entry onto the straight slower than it should be. By "driving the car" to use more of the track around this twisty section, rather than let it do what it wanted, my entry speed onto the track was much faster.
Graham mentioned that "the brakes work well" so I figure I've now gained enough trust in my brakes and aren't braking too early anymore (so I guess this "old dog" can still learn a few new tricks).
MINX had an interesting "incident" with an FT-86 dríven by one of the instructors. I'll let him fill in the details but it did confirm what I've suspected about the FT-86 vs. a turbocharged NA/NB MX5 with good suspension and tyres (modded SE/SP, or an aftermarket turbo on a N/A NA/NB, not OEM SE/SP) - and a good driver.
Once again, this was a great day and I look forward to other such events since I learned a lot, thanks for organising this Jeff, everyone had a great day.

Re: Driver Training at Morgan Park Warwick QLD
Yes. Great, informative day at Morgan Park yesterday. I did not realise we would have the opportunity for 10/10ths driving, so that was a nice bonus. I certainly recieved some instruction that was of great use to me (ie look where you want to go next). Some of us stayed overnight and had a bit of a tops-down, rugs-up tiki tour to Stanthorpe for brekky, then back to Warwick and on to Killarney, Boonah and home. A few happy snaps are below.
Thanks to Jeff for organising, and to all who turned up (including the Zed folk) which made for an interesting day.

MINX had an interesting "incident" with an FT-86 dríven by one of the instructors. SE Daily Driver, modded with usual bolt ons etc, running Hankook RS3s, with average weekend hack driver,(me ) on track never seen before,
Chasing an FT86, mostly oem incl tyres, but with sway bar package, with professional driver trainer on home familiar track
Result = SE got wave by after 2 laps
FT86 under braked and under tyred for track use, and unable to be compensated enough by driver skill advantage over SE driver/car combo. Straight line pace pretty similar.
Obviously a few variables in there, but gives a small insight
