My MX5 Club run 2012

Postby Kev05 » Sun Jun 24, 2012 10:45 pm

Contained in this thread are some of the touring trips I attended with the QLD MX5 club. It is good opportunity for the club to showcase the type of drives they organise for it's members. To date and since joining the club in late May this year. I have had the opportunity to attend three runs and here they're. If you're interested in the cruise and great social gathering, do not hesitate to contact the club http://www.mx5clubqld.com.au/ and come on the runs. I believe guests are permitted to attend 2 trips before requiring to join.

Trip 1 : Winter Wandering around Brisbane area.
Despite the weather, as many as 19 cars turned out for the run.
For the 19 cars we have

1 x red NA, 1 x silver NA, 1 x white NA
3 x green NB, 2 x gold NB, 2 x titanium silver NB, 1 x maroon NB, 1 x blue NB, 1 x silver NB
2 x red NC, 2 x silver NC, 1 x maroon NC & 1 x grey NC

Start of the run, traffic was heavy and slow going due to roadworks in progress.

Trip 2 - 17-06-12.
The Darling Downs Chapter’s June event is a planned 300 km run from Toowoomba and back via a circuitous route to the Bunya Mountains over some of the steepest, winding and most scenic roads in south-east Queensland.

On route to Toowoomba via Ipswich Motorway. Perfect weather.

Trip 3 - 24-06-2012.

This one is little different. It is slow leisurely open top cruise along the coastal line of Surfers Paradise. Here are some of the pictures taken on the trip.

At the meeting place with the trip organiser, being the first two to arrive.

Head north today to join the SUNSHINE COAST chapter on their club run. The drive starts at Eumundi, meandering around the backroads of the Noosa Hinterland, then heading further inland enjoying morning tea at Imbil. After morning tea, the group ventured back towards the coast and more of the Noosa Hinterland with the run finalising at the Kin Kin Hotel for lunch. Here are some pictures taken during the trip.

Trip 7 : Gold Coast Chapter - X'mas in July.

Join us for a sleigh ride with a difference. In your Christmassy themed outfit you will steer your Dancer and Prancer to Mudgeeraba Showgrounds for some yuletide greetings. From there we meander our way through some well travelled roads to Beaudesert for a hearty morning tea of Christmas treats. Taking off again we drive towards our final destination through a magical valley, a place rumored to be where Santa takes secret vacations. He has been spotted on numerous occasions in July previously in this area wearing shorts drinking to excess and singing completely out of tune something that sounds like Six White Boomers in the Jungle with Bells. We understand he has a habit of gate crashing people’s parties in the area with his girlfriend Eileen Elf. Be on the lookout.

Meeting at Mudgeeraba Showground.

Trip 8 : “Yum Yum Fat Tum” Run with the Sunshine Coast Chapter

On this run you will be able to taste and buy some of the finest local Sunshine Coast goods and products. After an hour’s run we will arrive at Kenilworth Country Foods about 10.30am. Available are many specialty cheeses, yoghurts and icecreams. You can purchase coffee and scones there, or BYO and enjoy morning tea in the park opposite.

Next stop on the run is The Australian Nougat Company in Eumundi. They are opening especially for our club on this Sunday. You can sample their nougats, watch how they made, then purchase some if you wish.

Last stop is the Ginger Factory in Yadina.

Here are some selected photos taken. It is also my last club run with the Sunshine Coast Chapter, so enjoy.

Meeting at Kuluin Mcdonalds.

Ran into you guys this arvo at the ginger factory / nut shop whilst on my road trip up the coast from Sydney. Said hi to the black NC and BRG NA owners. I had also just come down from the hinterland wishing all morning that I had my NA there.

Trip 9 : Scenic Rim - Queens Mary Falls.

For this run the group met at Queens Park in Ipswich. Some arrived early and took the opportunity to stroll through the beautiful Japanese Garden. As there were approximately 20 or so cars, we were split into three groups. Departing from Ipswich, the groups travelled through some very nice Scenic Rim roads towards their first stop at Wyaralong dam, for morning tea. From there, it is another drive up some steep and narrow hills towards the base of Queens Mary Falls for lunch and our final stop. Here are a few selected photos taken during the run.
