Same all track days at QR that I am aware, decision is NOT made by the MX5 Club but QR themselves - that is the reason I've been told when I enquired, welcome to hear feedback from any others

Ah k. I went they for a general practice session and they ran nationals with no issues.

Anyone able to answer the other questions?

Other potential issues with changing track layout is points for the club championship as there are points allocated for bettering your previous best etc.

Have a look here for the rest of the info http://www.mx5clubqld.com.au/?page_id=51

From the website:
The cost for sprint and regularity events for 2011 is as follows:

EFT payment from a club member at least 14 days prior – $125
EFT payment from a club member’s partner for the same event – $65
EFT payment from a club member within 14 days prior – $135
EFT payment from a non club member at least 14 days prior – $145
EFT payment from a non club member within 14 days prior – $155
ALL PAYMENTS ON THE DAY – $165 No change will be given, very important you understand this. “no change is given. If you must pay on the day have the right money”

Thanks magpie.

I'm not really concerned what track is ran, but it just seems like a bit of the lame excuse as to why the national can't be used.

I agree with you. We would be going 5 - 10 kph faster than at Lakeside at the point of braking into Turn 3, BUT there is 10 times the run off area! Any driver who goes to the track would recognise brake fade and adjust accordingly. The XL Cup cars use the National track and have to use standard rotors!! And they do 8 - 12 lappers!

Thanks for the input guys, i'm sure JBT will cruise past here and I'm sure also he will have a definate answer!

Regardless I'm having fun on whatever, just so long as if it has rained they DON'T use the Sprint layout!! That becomes quite a water splash up at turn 5 [left onto main track and followed immediately by the right hander back onto the main straight!! I think Pirate has some pics of 3-4 cars hitting the water at a Track Day back September 2010 all at the same time!!!!

The decision on which layout is used is made by the hirer i.e. the MX-5 Club. The National is not used because it is considered by the majority of non-FI users to be boring, it kills brakes and, because each lap on the National is much longer, fewer runs would be available. Thus the club has stayed with the Clubman and Sprint setups.
what's the setup? Similar to sprints? Are they able to time and record each lap? Or is just your fastest?

MX-5 Club track days are sprints and/or regularity. All laps are timed and the best time for each individual during the day is underlined.
The track days are set for week days as they are about half the price of a weekend day.

Just to clarify, can you define "non-FI users".
Thanks, The Pirate.

Thanks, The Pirate.

I assume JBT means Forced Induction ie Turbo / Supercharged cars.

My 2c - I found the Natinal circuit adds nothing to the experience.
And has more negatives than benefits on a club day.

Thanks JBT, I thought this was more likely to be the case. As i said before, I am not concerned on which layout is used, it just seemed a bit weird to use "standard brakes" as the reason not to use the national layout.

I also figured cost had something to do with the weekday thing.

Props to the mx5club actually, the page Magpie linked me was able to answer pretty much everything.

Money paid.
Hopefully lots of go karting in Bangkok may improve my driving between now and then.

I'm gonna stick a spud in your exhaust to provide a suitable handicap for your new modz :P

The ape behind the wheel of Gina is my handicap.
