Thought I'd introduce myself before going on my first breakfast run this saturday with the Sydney fellas

My name is Kevin but being too common a name, all my mates call me Ksharp

Just got yellowspeed coilovers put in last week by the guys at Mania and drove down to Kiama for a nice weekend

Hi Ksharp, great to see another NC

So she's an NC1 but which year, how many Kms, how long have you had her? And did you have stock suspension before the coilovers? How do you find the difference? What settings (firmness) did you use, if they are adjustable? After everything I still think coilovers are the best mod for an NC, since the stock suspension is so soft.

What a barrage of questions! :shock:

She's a 2007 PRHT Roadster with 140,xxxkm on the clock. I am the third owner and have thoroughly enjoyed driving her for the past 3 months.

I was initially hunting for a clean s2000 having heard very little of the mx5's. But given my budget (under $20k), the s2k owners all suggested that the miata will be a better buy. After reading through Coffeeboss' blog on JDMST, I knew I had to have it.

I think you're very right about the suspension. With the stock suspension, I felt somewhat let down by the handling given the many many great things I read and heard about the way mx5 handles. Aesthetically, the ridiculous wheel gap was also an eye sore.

Having had the yellowspeeds in for less than a week, initial feeling is that the ride feels alot firmer, alot less body roll but also harsher.

Ksharp, interesting that the ride is a lot harsher. What tyres do you have?

Having done the coilovers did you go for an alignment?

It’s been a while!

Bad news first, my license suspension kicked in on the 3rd September so I am off the road for good 3 months until the 3rd December :cry:

My very first car, a V35 skyline, was prohibited for P-platers. I didn’t know this at the time due to a lack of research and consequently this led to my suspension.

The trouble maker

Now on to the goods news! Time definitely doesn’t fly when you’re suspended, so I’ve been working on a few things to make it more bearable, here’s what I’ve been up to:

DIY front bumper respray

The condition of the front bumper/tip of the bonnet has been bugging me since day 1 so I got to work.

Here’s what the puppy looks like with the bumper removed, I followed this DIY http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=373258 and a 10mm ratchet definitely made the job easier.
