MX5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY 17 SEPT 2012

Postby zero00 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 9:10 pm

Not much to say yet, except .........................!!

We all had so much fun yesterday, now it's only 55 days until we do it again at Queensland Raceway, Ipswich on 17 September next!!

What's the track like? Watch the V8 Supercars scorch around the 'National Circuit' in a couple of weeks!! Do we do the same track? No, the back straight is quite long and most of us run 'standard' braking systems, so for safety we run either the 'Clubman Circuit' or the 'Sprint Circuit'

Check the track layouts on the following link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queensland ... igurations

As you can see, the 'National' looks like a giant paperclip! All the 'Clubman' does is cut the top off one side!! It's fun, it's flat, it has a NEW surface end of 2011 and there is not as much 'armco fencing', plenty of room if you happen to have an 'off'!! There is a fully covered pit area, good amenities BUT no canteen open normally, so you have to take your own unless we hear different

Any questions? Feel free to drop a message here and I am sure within 24 hours someone will leave an answer

I'm looking forward to comparing times with the Pool Man again. Also want to put some of the advice I have gotten so far into practice. It is hard to 'practice' in company cars that have enhanced vehicle tracking/monitoring (every person has a tag that has to be used to drive the vehicle).

I believe that they do (I asked the same question) just send an email to the comp secretary and confirm that you will have the same number.

Sure! No one from the Club has used that this year except yourself and preference is for everyone to have the same number all the time - so '79' is YOURS!!

79 relates to the build number of the Aust delivered Limited Edition that the car is, in case people are wondering why I'd care about that number. Yes, I've got a wooden gear knob with gold lettering, the number 79 and bits of it rubbing off!

Normally people ask for a number that relates to their age!!

That's why I have #141 :(

Nice explanation gs!!

No worries Kev

It's an easier track because you can see everything that is happening, so no need for the flaggies like Lakeside, still we do have the starters and the flag point at the start/finish line

Hope all goes well with the fitment of the hardtop

Is safety really the reason you don't run the national circuit? I have standard brakes and i found it pretty easy to slow down....

It sucks that these are always on weekdays - but anyway - what's the setup? Similar to sprints? Are they able to time and record each lap? Or is just your fastest? Most importantly - how much and when do you need to register by?

Same all track days at QR that I am aware, decision is NOT made by the MX5 Club but QR themselves - that is the reason I've been told when I enquired, welcome to hear feedback from any others

Did you get the problem sorted after Norwell?
