Lakeside is a challenging track that requires practice to go quick and safe. For the new guys I can strongly recommend studying Ash Lowe's lines around lakeside on Utube. In my oppinion one of the best MX5 peddlers out there.

Type "mx5 Ash Lowe lakeside" into google.

See you Monday!

Cool. But when you say make sure you tell the comsec you are coming, and you do, and he doesn't reply saying "thanks" you are left wondering and hoping he knows.

But yeah, all good.

I've actually been studying one of your Lakeside YouTube videos on 2012-04-01 after noticing that it followed the lines I'd planned to run based on the track layout alone (never dríven Lakeside before).

- I just wish you'd moved the camera back far enough so that I could see gear changes too.

My shift points won't help much 2.5l and 4.1 diff

Change to keep the revs in the strong part of your torque curve and dont change mid corner unless you want to create trailing throttle oversteer

I'm a complete novice and don't know much about racing protocols. However if they're still in need of some assistance on the day, then give me a yell. I should be somewhere on the grounds taking snap shots. I won't be staying for the whole day, probably leaving at 3-4pm.

If it's between 12-4, I should be able to help out.

Mark can grab me on Monday if he is still short on volunteers. I'll be there by 10am on Monday.

Thanks Chefie

Most of you I won't know, so when you see a silver NB8A with #141 on the doors, please make yourselves known by 'nick' used here so I and others get the chance to meet you! Remember any questions, if I can't answer them we will have lots who can!!

I should be there some time after 9am, I get up at 4am and am chomping at the bit to get going!!

Remember also, if you can - BRING A FOLD-UP CHAIR :D

Guys, it's all about having fun and furthering your MX5 experience, after a few laps you become 'dialed in' and start adjusting entry and exits from corners, braking points as you become aware just want your car can and CAN'T do!! [not much of the latter!!] I'm still on a sttep learning curve myself, have a few things to try this time as I haven't beaten my 'personal best' this year!!

Remember also, ANYTHING you aren't sure about, make a post and let everyone know, I'm sure we will find an answer for you!!

NO QUESTION IS A DUMB QUESTION WHEN IT COMES TO TAKING TO THE TRACK :!:

Anyway you can figure out in advance if you can have a particular number on the side of the car? I'd like 79 or 579 - does anyone contactable before Monday know?

gslender

I will have a look at previous results and see if that has been used .. no reason why you can't use '579', I've never seen that in one of our meets

brb

OK, I've been thru all results for this year and '79' has not been used, so either you can make it up yourself or hope that it is amongst the 'collection' Lakeside staff have available

79, 179 or 579 will be fine, 'old' timing method required timers to 'call' the number and 1-99 was fine but I got away with it and also when multiple drivers of one car it's easier to just add the '1' in front between runs [example 66/166, 46/146 etc] - new timing method is all electronic, all they do is 'key' your number to match the transponder attached to the car

Good Luck
