Mark normally sorts groups based on your last time at that track.
EG Group 1 cutoffs i believe was 66s, so (67 - 69 Group 2) , (70 - 72 Group 3) and above for Group 4 and First Timers

But that is a rough guide depending on number of entrants, and trying to spread the group numbers evenly and safely.
Running 70s in Group 1 with the odd race car running 58s means lapping traffic becomes a safety and comfort issue for those in our beloved daily drivers.

Minx: It is basically going to be an untested completely new car. I'll just talk to Mark on monday and see what he says.

Best way, if you know you will be 5-10 secs a lap slower, Mark can slot you into the following group easy! Just mention to him either at or before Drivers Briefing

Just post compsec a summary of your previous Lakeside and QR times - your Group should be obvious from the times (plus I don't want you in my group since I want to see the car in action from the sidelines - been looking forward to it after seeing it many times before in the MX5 Plus workshop).

Well, the 323 is not going to be able to make it unfortunately - needs new pads and disks machined, but no time left for me. Might come out for a bit of a look though if I feel like watching everyone else having fun!

Happy to assist! I can't access emails from my work and Mark flicked the answer back to me last night! Glad that's resolved and probably answered for a few others as well

OK, for all those intending running Monday who haven't made the payment, that's OK - but PLEASE flick Mark an email so he has an idea of numbers and can pre-arrange groups [these will be tentative and can/will change on the day]. You CAN pay on the day but also, please ensure you have the correct money and remember the timing device is $80 to purchase or $80 with $60 refund for the day on return

NO OTHER METHODS OF TIMING ARE USED

At the conclusion of the day, results will be uploaded to: www.natsoft.com.au

Email that you will be running to: compsecmx5@miata.net.au

Thanks !!

At QR earlier this year we were told that if we wanted to buy the timing devices, since they did not have many of them at the time, that we could purchase them at our next event less the $20 hire for the day we'd already paid. Is that offer still available?

ie. If we attended the QR event, can we purchase the timers for $60 instead of $80?

(Sorry if this has already been asked, I may have missed it)

I've emailed Mark (comsec) and not once had a reply. I'm unsure if he got the emails, or if he usually rarely replies to people. Would be nice for a noobie like me to have Mark at least say g'day and offer some encouragement to see me all ok on the day.

No big deal, but would be nice and can imagine some other folks may find it fairly off putting.

Lokiel

That was the deal, they will have that on record .. I will be calling in Sunday, assume they are now available after making enquiries maybe 4-5 weeks ago. So if stocks are now there for sale, then if you paid $20 at QR back in May then $60 to buy

I will make another post on availability Sunday after I get home

Charlie, DEFINATELY GROUP 1 !!! If not already organised then it will be before we start Monday. I'm another 9 weeks OLDER since the last meeting at QR so I guess I will have to move back a group!

Can't wait to see an '86' out on the track!! I have heard a few quite willing to run them

gslender: emails to 'compsec' are really only for numbers, not normally replied to, BUT any questions or things you want to know feel free here to ask, plenty cruise this thread that will only be too happy to answer any queries [I do get your point though]

See you Monday!
